Counselor's Corner

Greetings and welcome to the first edition of our re-designed Guidance Gazette! I hope everyone enjoyed the summer and had a great start to the school year! This year the Guidance Gazette will run monthly and will aim to keep parents informed of the information that our High School Guidance department shares with your students throughout each month, such as scholarships, college open house dates, college planning information, enrichment opportunities, testing updates and much more!

Please feel free to contact LaTonya Ragland, High School Counselor and Carrie Hawkins, Registrar/High School Student Services Assistant with RCS High School Guidance questions or concerns. We are located upstairs in offices 222-A & 222-B and can be reached by email at and

If the Gazette does not cover a topic that you desire more information on, please give a member of high school guidance a call or send an email. Your feedback is highly encouraged and welcomed!

National Suicide Prevention Month

September is National Suicide Prevention Month. All month, mental health advocates, prevention organizations, survivors, allies, and community members unite to promote suicide prevention awareness.

#BeThe1To is the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline’s message for National Suicide Prevention Month and beyond, which helps spread the word about actions we can all take to prevent suicide. Let's show our support to suicide pervention month by using the #BeThe1To whe posting to social media and work together to change the conversation from suicide to suicide prevention, to actions that can promote healing, help and give hope.
