Notes From the Office

Thank You

Thank you for your kind words and prayers during my time out. I can't express the amount of joy I felt getting back this week and seeing all of those smiling faces. I appreciate all of the Spencer families in helping me get better. This is just one reason we call it The Amazing Spencer Elementary!

Morning Drop Off Reminder

We are seeing an increase of children getting dropped off before 8:40 in the morning. The first bell rings at 8:46 AM, and we don't have adult supervision outside until 8:40 AM. Please plan accordingly and do not drop off your child before 8:40 AM to ensure everyone stays safe.We appreciate your cooperation.

Attendance Reminder

Please remember to call in your student's absence as early as possible if they will not be in attendance that day. If it is a COVID related illness or possible exposure, it helps us with contact tracing the sooner we are informed. Thank you for your assistance with this as we try to keep everyone safe.

Now Hiring

Spencer is currently looking for building substitutes and a lunch aide. If you would love to join The Amazing Spencer Elementary, please let us know by calling 810-299-4350 for more information.

Morning Announcements

Each day, Mr.Renner posts morning announcements for all Spencer Roadrunners. They are short, sweet, and to the point. This way, you can stay connected with us, whether near or far!

We do not have a Lost & Found area inside the school this year, so items found around the school or on the playground are being placed in a plastic bin with a lid marked LOST & FOUND and will be located near Door #21. Please check the bin if you are missing any items. ITEMS NOT PICKED UP WILL BE DONATED NEXT WEEK!

Picture Retake Day

Our Picture Retake Day is scheduled for December 1st, which is the day we come back from Thanksgiving Break. If you were not happy with your original photographs, have your student bring the package in on Retake Day, and Lifetouch will take retake the photo and resend the package you ordered. The order form is attached. I have a limited quantity in the office so if you need a physical order form, feel free to email me at and I can give one to your child on Monday or Tuesday of next week.

Hello from your Elementary Counselor, Mrs. McKiddy! With October being Anti-Bullying Awareness Month, we spoke with students about how to use our voice. We talked about how to support one another, how to stand up respectfully, and most importantly, how to do it in a way that makes everyone feel comfortable. Our theme of “Do Something” is carrying into the months of November and December: generosity and acts of kindness. If we can create a culture of kindness in our classrooms, our little learners are more likely to take risks, celebrate their individuality, and grow as people. To deepen this learning, create opportunities at home for spreading kindness and being generous. We know that in order to create a habit, we must create opportunities for repetition.

Let's Connect: If you are noticing some behaviors that are interfering with your child’s success in the classroom, please feel free to complete my parent referral form and we can work together to determine if supports are needed here at school.

More Resources: We also have our BAS Elementary Counseling website for ideas and resources to be used at home!

The grade earning the most food drive points will earn a small prize, so be sure to label donations with your child's grade. BVA Spencer Item Pickup

BVA Families: If you were unable to make it last Wednesday to pick up photos, shirts, and books for your student(s) and would like them prior to the December pickup date (TBD), please email Jen Lumsden. She will arrange a time for you to pick things up!

Holiday Shop

Although we are unable to offer an in-person Holiday Shop this year, the tradition lives on virtually! This year we are able to offer a virtual Holiday Shop through the same company we have used for years, Fun Services. The shopping link will be open from November 30 through midnight on December 7. Gifts will ship directly to your home. This is not a fundraiser, but an opportunity to continue one of our favorite and most popular events at Spencer. See attached flyers for more information and helpful hints. Happy shopping!
