COVID19 Updates for Herndon Magnet School
Purpose of this Page
This page will be updated frequently with the questions that have been asked and with the answers as we currently know them. It will be posted to the Facebook page and to the Google Classrooms of each student. If you have questions, please email jldepriest@caddoschools.org and I will try to get the answer in a timely fashion.

Questions and Answers
How will student continue learning? (March 16)
Students will be using Google Classroom to access assignments and activities provided by their teachers. For many of you, teachers have already been in contact with information and students are already logging in and viewing assignments. Teachers are attending classes this week to learn more about using Google Classroom and the resources that are available to them for distance learning. They will be setting up their classrooms and preparing on-line assignments. Many teachers have already posted some fun activities and assignments for students to get acquainted with the platform. An official time-line is still being outlined for lesson completion.
What if I don’t have a device for my student to use? (March 16)

Devices will be available for check-out on Monday, March 30 – Wednesday, April 1 from 10 AM – 1 PM. Devices will only be checked-out to families that complete the survey. Only one device per family. Devices will be allocated beginning with 8th graders in high school credit courses and down through kindergarten.
What if my child doesn’t know how to log-on to Google Classroom, ClassLink, Zearn, Great Minds, etc… (March 16)

What if my student wasn’t at school Friday and did not bring home their books and supplies? (March 16)
You can pick them up on Monday, March 30 – Wednesday, April 1 from 10 AM – 1 PM.
Will we have to make-up the missed days? (March 16)
Current guidance from LDOE and BESE is that the minutes needed requirement has been waived.
Will the LEAP 2025 Test still take place? (March 16)
As of this time, all state tests are scheduled as planned. A request for a waiver has been sent to the USDOE from the LDOE. State testing is part of the ESSA plan and can not be waived by the states without federal permission.
What if I have questions for my child’s teacher(s)? (March 16)
You can contact them via email address. All teachers will have daily virtual office hours when they will be available via email, Google Hangouts, or Google Classroom. A master calendar of times will be sent to parents, posted at www.herndonmagnetschool.com , and posted on the Herndon Magnet School Facebook page.
How will my child be graded? (March 16)
We are awaiting guidance from CPSB; however, students need to be take their Google Classroom assignments seriously and complete the work.
What if we need breakfast and lunch? (March 16)
Updated information can be found here. You do not have to come to Herndon to get meals. You can pick them up from the school location closest to your home.
