What is it all about?
On Wednesday, May 2nd, SMS Students will be participating in the Global Day of Design.
Students need to make, build and tinker. The Global Day of Design is one day that focuses on using the Design Thinking process in school. Our goal for the Global Day of Design is to inspire a transformation in schools around the world to incorporate design into an every day practice with our students.
In the past two years over 100,000 students from 950 schools (and four continents) have participated. We are hoping to grow even more this year! (excerpt from Global Day of Design website)

8T Works Together to Make A Difference
During the last week of April a group of grade 8 students decided that they wanted to run a bake sale to spread kindness throughout the school and community. They donated all the money raised to South East Helping Hands. They thought that this would be a good place to donate to because Helping Hands gives food to the people who are in need. The idea of having a bake sale was inspired by Ms. Wolfe when she started teaching her students about kindness and how it affects everyone around you. She encouraged her students to do acts of kindness for people around you and gave them class time to plan the bake sale. The students worked together and became closer friends. Everyone on the team was involved and had a great time doing it. The students raised $170 in total! The whole bake sale would not have happened without the students and teachers who gave money, and the parents who helped provide the baked goods. Hopefully this can encourage people to keep on spreading kindness in anyway they can.
Note from Ms. Wolfe:
This bake sale was completely planned and run (baking included) by Melody, Julia, Shelby, Aidan, Cody R., Cody K. I am so proud of their hard work and generosity! Thanks again to everyone who made this event a success!
