Welcome Back
In The Know
The staff handbook is online. Please take a moment to read it over if you might be unfamiliar with how things work at Churchill.
I will be sending you a copy of our administrative roles and responsibilities. Most of our roles and responsibilities have remained the same, but there are a few subtle changes that you should be aware of.
Parent Communication - It is important that you are updating your grades in your grade book every two weeks This eliminates unnecessary panic on behalf of students and families. It is also a very proactive way of maintain a strong professional presence with families.
Please be sure to update your voicemail. It is important that if someone tries to reach you that your voicemail has the right message. Sometimes with room switches messages don't get changed and when somebody calls they get a different voice and name than they were expecting. This only takes a moment to correct. Please make sure your voicemail is accurate. Thank you for this.
Syllabai - Please be sure to submit your syllabus to me when you get a chance. Thank you.
Student Safety
Eugene School District 4J has policies and programs to prohibit and prevent bullying and harassment, including intimidation, cyberbullying, hazing and teen dating violence. District policy also prohibits discrimination, meaning any act that has the purpose or effect of unreasonably differentiating in treatment in any instructional program, extracurricular activity, or in the provision of any other service or benefit on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation (actual or perceived), gender identity or expression, national or ethnic origin, marital status, age, disability, military or veteran status, or any other factor protected by law.
The district encourages students, parents and other patrons to share their concerns with district officials if they believe they or someone else has been the victim of bullying and harassment, including intimidation, cyberbullying, hazing and teen dating violence, sexual harassment or discrimination. No reprisal or adverse action will occur as a consequence of initiating a complaint in good faith.
Incidents should be reported to the school principal or other staff member. An optional Student Safety Reporting Form is available in the front office of the school. If the complainant has worked with the school and is not satisfied with the resolution, or if the principal is alleged to have engaged in wrong doing, a complaint may be directed to the superintendent’s office. Complaint forms and information about the complaint process are available in all 4J school offices on the 4J website at www.4j.lane.edu/complaints and at the 4J Education Center, 200 North Monroe Street, Eugene, OR 97402. For more information, contact your school principal or the superintendent’s office, 541‑790‑7707.

STAFF - I have a lot to be thankful for this time of year. Specifically, I am very thankful to all the individual and team effort that has rallied during my absence. First and foremost O am deeply appreciative for the help of Misael Flores and Casandra Kamens for their steadfast commitment to getting the school year off to a great start. There has been so much work to do and so much organization. I was absent during an administrators busiest time of year and these two rose to the challenge it triumphant fashion. Thank you both for your professionalism.
Casey Tiemann - Thank you for your generous and gracious response to our parents. I read a response from a parent that resonates with me and the values we espouse here at Churchill. Thank you Casey for bringing kindness and humanity to the forefront of every encounter.
Thank you so much Casey.
"I appreciate your fast response! I have been so impressed with your office staff, administration, and counseling staff. The "customer service" we have received has been off the charts."
In addition I would like to thank the Front Office Group (Ken Pimental, Trisha Jackson, Robin Francisco, Kym Ramsing, Jill Reents, Paola Massingham, and Mary Beth Hepp-Elam) for their cooperative team approach to doing business. Not only are you all cohesive and complimentary with addressing the work that comes in our doors, but you do your work with enthusiasm and passion. Your positive attitude is contagious and our families and visitors are consistently impressed with the high level of positive caring and attention to clientele needs. Thank you for your organization and facilitation of our registration days, covering each other during absences, and the clear level of communication that helps keep this group operating at a high level. You show Lancer PRIDE with every interaction. It is every interaction that counts.
