St. Columba Catholic School - News every Friday - 9/25/20
Our first FULL week of 5 full days was a great success! Our students and teachers are starting to get into the routine of things and it is going wonderfully!
Hard to believe, but today marks the halfway point of the first quarter. Somehow, we are already 1/8th of the way through the school year! Please see the screencast below to learn about how to view your child's progress reports in SchoolSpeak.
Next week, IT IS GOING TO BE HOT! We are going to be hitting the mid-90s next week, so all of next week will be a half day for K-8 students.
Finally, I will be ensuring that all students finalize their STAR Assessments next week. See more information below.
Here is a look ahead at the upcoming events on campus:
- Monday, September 28: K-8 Half Day
- Tuesday, September 29: K-8 Half Day
- Wednesday, September 30: K-8 Half Day
- Thursday, October 1: K-8 Half Day
- Friday, October 2: Preschool Half Day, K-8 Half Day

New Art Teacher!
Please welcome Ms. Tiffany Coomes to our St. Columba community as our new Visual and Performing Arts Teacher.
Ms. Coomes has Associate Degrees in Art and Studio Art, a Bachelor's Degree in Art Education, and is currently working on receiving her Teaching Credential. As someone raised in a Catholic environment, she is excited to come work in a Catholic school and infuse art and our faith!

Send Home Procedures: Refresher
We have reached the point in the school year (we knew it wouldn't take long) where we are sending students home because they are presenting symptoms of COVID-19.
If you your child is sent home or you keep them home because of COVID-19 symptoms, there are 3 ways in which he/she can return to school:
1. Provide results of a Negative COVID test and wait 3 school days
2. Wait 10 school days with no symptoms
3. Provide a doctor's diagnosis note indicating a chronic condition, such as allergies. This note must provide a diagnosis and come from the doctor that primarily treats that condition.
I know it isn't fun to have to come pick up your child with symptoms and keep them home. But following these protocols keeps us all safe and keeps our school open.
Thank you for your understanding.
Donation Request
On behalf of our teachers and daycare staff, if any families have Clorox (disinfecting) Wipes, Lysol (disinfecting) Spray, or Baby Wipes, we would happily accept any donations.
We recognize that these items are in high demand, but if you happen to have any, they will go a long way in keeping our students safe and healthy!
Thank you in advance!
