MDHS Counseling Newsletter
Happy Second Semester!
We are so excited to meet with you this month! On January 30th-31st, the school counselors will be visiting your English class for a fun and informative lesson on how to be well and do well at Mater Dei & looking ahead to college and life after high school. Parents and guardians, we will be sharing our slideshow with you after the presentation.
Don't forget that your counselors are available to help and support you. Feel free to stop by any time before school, at lunch, during Office Hour, or after school.

Service Hours/Reflection
As a reminder, to graduate from Mater Dei students must complete 10 hours of volunteer service per semester, and at least half of all hours must be "direct service." The deadline in spring for service hours is March 4, 2019.
Visit the Christian Service Program web page for more information. Be sure to submit your hours through our new app, MobileServe. Please check that they have been verified.
If you have any questions, talk to Mrs. Hopkins, our Director of Christian Service, in Campus Ministry.
Wellness
The new year and new semester is a great time to review and reset! Take the time to take care of yourself. Here are a few wellness ideas:
- Hydrate
- Slow down, take breaks if you need them
- Breathe
- Talk with a friend
- Volunteer/give back
- Write down what you're thankful for in the last year
If you ever need to talk to someone about personal concerns (family, friends, how you're feeling, dealing with stress, etc.) please let your school counselor know. We are here to support you. We also have two Wellness Counselors available every school day.
