Morning Drop Off...
As we are a little over one month into our school year, we have witnessed individuals not adhering to our drop off procedures. This creates an UNSAFE situation for both the person disregarding our procedures, and all other individuals who are trying to arrive safely and timely to Brookside School.
Please note: If you pull up on the Stop, Drop, and Go line, DO NOT get out of your car to assist your child. This results in traffic backing up, and disrupts the flow of our morning routine. If you feel as though your child needs additional assistance please do one of the following:
- Park in a legal spot and escort your child to their destination... or
- Drive up to Mr. Conroy, or Mrs. Scaduto, and allow them to assist your child out of your vehicle.
Both of these options allow for the optimal flow of traffic and the safest way to drop students off. As a community, we need to work together for what's in the best interest of the entire Brookside community. This includes non-academic areas as well.
If you have any questions please contact the main office for assistance.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Brookside Families Help Hurricane Victims!
We want to extend a big THANK YOU for all our donations we received these past few weeks. We were able to collect an overwhelming amount of food, school supplies, and clothing that will all be sent down to Tice Elementary in Houston this week. In addition to all the donations the Brookside Staff collected over a thousand dollars to be used towards food and supplies for the families affected by Hurricane Harvey. We thank you for coming together and giving back!

Main Office Announcements...
Before/after school parent reminder about supervision:
- Please be reminded that there is no teacher supervision in the morning until 8:30 a.m. This is important to note as if you are not attending the morning care program, students will be unsupervised until a teaching staff member arrives.
- At dismissal, once teachers leave the class at aftercare, or dismiss to parents/guardians, there is no school supervision for students on the blacktop or playground.
Late arrival:
- Our School day begins at 8:45 a.m. If your child is not in their homeroom at 8:45 p.m. they will be marked late. Please assist us in keeping the Brookside children safe by maintaining a close watch on your children during after school hours.

Health Office
Dear Families,
International Infection Prevention Week is October 15th - October 21st. Washing your hands is among the best and easiest ways to prevent infection and the spread of germs. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says you should always wash your hands:
Before, during and after you prepare food.
Before you eat.
Before and after you care for someone who is sick or has an open wound.
After you go to the bathroom, help a child use the bathroom or change a baby's diaper.
After you cough, sneeze or blow your nose.
After you handle garbage, animals, animal feed or animal waste.
Please remember, handwashing should take approximately 20 seconds and kids may sing the Happy Birthday song twice or ABC’s once to themselves. I kept the “Germs Smart” video in this week’s smores because I have noticed students washing their hands using proper technique. Thank you to all that have shared this video with their child. Even 4th and 5th Graders will enjoy watching the video. Please click here to view the video. Thank you.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Anna Parke, RN, BSN, CSN
Middle School Expansion
A true middle school supports the academic, developmental, and social emotional growth of the whole child. Bringing together students in grades 6-8 will afford Westwood Regional School District students a complete program and strong foundation for a successful high school experience and future.
