The Ludwig Ledger
December 2018
November was a busy month...
On November 9th we honored family member veterans of our students during our annual Veteran’s Day celebration. Forty veterans attended this event to be recognized and honored for their service in the military. Students involved in Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts participated by presenting our state and nation’s colors to kick off the assembly. The Ludwig choir sang the National Anthem and the Armed Forces Medley that recognizes each of the five branches. A special guest, Captain Russ Litko, from the United States Army Reserve spoke to the audience about his experience serving in the military. Two video montages were created to remember veterans and to thank them for their service through the years. Each veteran was acknowledged by name and given a treat and handwritten letters from our student mentors. Our very own, Mrs. Nommensen, closed the assembly by playing Taps on her trumpet. We love letting our veterans know that they are appreciated for all of their service and sacrifice!

December is on its way...
Don't miss our 4th and 5th-grade choir concert at 6:00 pm on Thursday, December 13th. Our students have been practicing for quite a while now and we can't wait to hear them!
We are fortunate enough to have a local children's author, Gayle Rosengren, visit us on December 14th. She is the author of "What the Moon Said" and "Cold War on Maplewood Street." We look forward to her visit! There is still time to order an autographed copy of her book. Have your child pick a form up in the office if you need one.
The winter parties will take place on Thursday, December 20th at 1:00 pm. The last day of classes before the winter break will be on Friday, December 21st. We will have an early dismissal at 1:00 pm. The winter break will start on Monday, December 24th and students will resume classes on Monday, January 7th.
I would like to wish all of you a wonderful winter break! As you know, time is going by way too quickly. Please take the time to spend quality time with your loved ones and make some great memories!
Thanks for all you do,
