Athlete Spotlight: Maverick Martin
Maverick, a scholar-athlete and team captain for the San Marcos Varsity Football Team, suffered a traumatic ankle injury in July, jeopardizing his senior season and several college offers. Thanks to your donations, SDSMF was able to provide Maverick with the medical attention he needed. Exactly 3 months post surgery, Maverick played 68 downs of football in front of both USD and SDSU scouts.
On Maverick's first night back on the field he scored the only touchdown of the game during the last play of his high school football career.
Maverick currently has offers to play football at USD, Valparaiso University, Southwest Minnesota State, Lake Erie University, and Southern Nazarene University.
Congrats to Maverick and his family!
