Cougar Connection
AUGUST 26, 2022
From Principal Dr. Barnette
Dear Cougar Families,
We hope to see all of you at our IN PERSON Back to School Night on Thursday, September 1st. Additional details can be found on our website and in the article below. It will be wonderful to have you back in our classrooms!!
Did you know that over 300 students ride their E-Bikes to school daily? We are impressed with the positive way our students are responding to our safety reminders (“buckle that helmet strap”). In the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing information about a mandatory bike safety class that all Diegueño bike riders will take. In the meantime, here’s some helpful information from the San Diego Bike Coalition and the Carlsbad Police Department.
Remember that Monday is a Late Start (9:45 start time).
I hope you’ll follow our school's Instagram and Facebook accounts so you can see photos of the learning and fun that is taking place throughout our campus every day. We’ve included a few snapshots below.
Go Cougars!!
Dr. Celeste Barnette
Principal

LCC Football season is upon us and there are a few things that middle school parents/guardians need to know!
- Middle school students are expected to be supervised by parent/guardians. They should NOT be dropped off with no adult supervision. Students will NOT be allowed in the gates without a parent/guardian.
- No BACKPACKS are allowed. Smaller bags will be searched by security.
- No bringing in outside food and drinks.
- The games are now CASHLESS! You MUST purchase tickets prior to coming to ALL/ANY games.

From our Counseling Office
Welcome to the new year! It has been great to meet all our new students and see our returners. Thank you for your patience as we start the new year. Please remember our doors are always open and we are here to support you!
Mrs. Martin, Mr. Brown, and Ms. Carolyn
Attendance Corner
· Report all absences to the Attendance office. Parents/guardians have 48 hours following the absence to verify and clear absences. After 48 hours, any unverified absences will automatically be considered truant.
· Call or email 24-48 in advance for an “Off-Campus” pass, if picking up students early for appointments. Students will need to pick up a pass before school on the day of their appointment.
· For the safety of our students, a Parent or Guardian will need to sign out a student through attendance in the administration building. Students cannot walk or ride their bikes/e-bikes home.
Thank you for your cooperation
Parents/Guardians regarding item dropoff...
If you need to drop off a lunch from home or any other forgotten item, you can leave it on the Forgotten Items cart just outside our front office door. Our nutrition services provide delicious, healthy, and FREE meals (breakfast and lunch) to all students daily. We kindly ask that you do not have meals delivered to school (through Grub Hub, etc.).
