News from this week
Dear Parents,
Thank you so much to all of the parents who were able to join me for Curriculum Night! It was great to meet some of you and see others that I met on registration day. I know that if we work together all of the students will have a successful year. If you were unable to attend, please complete and sign the forms that are clipped together in your child's Friday folder. Please send these back as soon as possible. All other papers are for you to keep. Also, the following link is a copy of my presentation for you to view.
In your child's Friday Folder this week, you will find several important items. First, there is the picture order forms for Fall pictures. Picture Day is this Wednesday, September 6. Our class will go at 10:20. Second, you will find your child Milestone's report from 3rd grade if your child attended Gwin Oaks last year. This is yours to keep. Scores are also posted on the Parent Portal under Testing. Finally, our first Typing log is in the folder. We will count typing logs like reading logs. We would like the students to practice typing at least 20 minutes per week to help them get ready for typing on the Milestones test in April. There are several typing websites listed on the log, but the students can also find the links on the front page of my website. Please have your child start this typing homework next week and it will be due every Monday along with the Reading logs.
Our reading program has officially started and reading logs are due every Monday (next week it is due on Tuesday due to the Labor Day holiday). Please make sure to sign your child's reading log every week or else it will not be counted. Also, if you decide to submit the reading log online, please send me an email by Monday morning (Tuesday this week). I do not get a list of online submissions, so I need to get the confirmation of submission from the parents.
I will begin offering Morning Math sessions to provide extra help for any of my students. They will start on Tuesday, September 12 at 7:15 AM, and I will have a session every Tuesday morning, unless I tell you otherwise. You do not need to sign up. Just drop your child off at the front doors at 7:15. You can drive right through the bus loop. The buses will not be there at that time. Please do NOT use the car rider lane on the side of the building. The front doors are open and there is someone at the front desk. Your child will say that they are there for Morning Math with Mrs. Stoffle. Please be sure not to drop off your child early as there is no one available to watch them. If I ever need to cancel on a Tuesday, I will send a message via Remind.
As I told you at Curriculum Night, we are running a Class Economy in our classroom. One of the items the students can buy is a trip to the treasure chest. Since this a popular item, I am in need to donations for the treasure chest. Donations can include:
- candy
- small toys
- small dollar store items
- bubbles
- anything small and cheap that you think would be appropriate for a class treasure chest
If you have a question about any items you might want to donate, please send me an email.
If you have not yet signed up for Remind, please make sure to do so. This is a great way for me to easily send out important information about our class, including the class newsletter. You can text the code: @stoffle to the number 81010.
Please make sure if you have to contact me about anything, to send me an email. For some reason, I don't always receive your Remind messages on my phone, so it always best to email to ensure I get your message the same day. mailto: sabine_stoffle@gwinnett.k12.ga.us
Have a great weekend!
Sabine Stoffle
