From the Principal...Steve Morrill

This year registration continues to be 'digital' for both of the middle schools. Registration forms and information regarding middle school opportunities will be posted on our website at the bottom of our home page on Wednesday, May 1, 2019. Wednesday is also the day you will see a registration fee billed to you in PushCoin. Families must return an Annual Student Registration Update Form for every child that attends a D303 school. Please call the main office at (331) 228-3100 if you need any assistance with registration or printing forms.

Next week we will be exercising our regularly scheduled safety drills. Please reinforce with your children the need to be fully engaged and take these drills seriously. No one wants to experience the real thing, so it is important that all of us be prepared in the event of an emergency.

Yesterday morning our faculty learned that Mrs. Kristy McKnight, Assistant Principal at the 6th grade building, will be the Principal next year at Ferson Creek Elementary School. We will miss her many talents that she shares with our students, parents, and staff every day. Please join me in congratulating Kristy on this significant professional accomplishment!

Enjoy your weekend!

Meet the Read Aloud Lunch Bunch!

All students at the sixth grade building are invited to have lunch three times per week and listen to a great middle grade novel being read aloud by our building reading specialists.

Restart by Gordon Korman tells the story of a middle school bully who suffers from amnesia and has an opportunity to make a fresh start. It is not too late to join in on the fun! See your language arts teacher or Mrs. Leppin and Mrs. Baron if you have any questions.

Special thanks to the Thompson PTO for supporting this literacy activity via the Student Enrichment Grant!

The middle school girls will be mentored by high school girls who are part of FVGCC. The event will take place at the Fox.Build Makerspace in St. Charles. A reminder from the school nurse…

State legislation requires that all Illinois children in sixth grade have a dental examination. A licensed dentist must perform the examination and he or she shall sign the form. Dental offices should have the form available but it is available online at under Departments, then Health Services, then “Health Documents and Forms”. Each child must present proof of a dental examination by a dentist prior to May 15, 2019. The exam must be dated within 18 months prior to May 15, 2019. If your child has had an exam already, you can ask your dentist to complete the form for the exam.

The Illinois Department of Public Health has established a waiver for children who show undue burden or lack of access to a dentist. Parents or legal guardians who object to the dental examinations on religious grounds shall present to the school a signed, detailed statement of the objection.

The deadline is quickly approaching! Please submit this if you have not already done so.
