Congratulations to our softball and track and field teams on great performances this past weekend!
Old Quarry hosted the SDEAA conference softball tournament at the Lemont Park District ball fields this past Saturday. Eight teams vied for the championship trophy. The OQ softball team won the conference championship on this cold and windy day for the 3rd year in a row. Coaches Alyssa Bauer and Rachel Mayer did a great job leading the team to victory!
Track and field also had impressive results at the sectional meet in Bolingbrook this past Saturday.
8th grader Morgan Wrublik qualified for the state meet by winning the girls' long jump event at sectionals with an impressive 15'7'' jump. She placed 2nd in the shot put event with a throw of 30'1" which also qualified for the state meet!
7th grader Nick Kania took first place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:16.85 and he also took first place in the 1600m run with a time of 5:15.67. Nick will join Morgan at the State meet this coming weekend. Good luck to them both! Kudos to Coach Brian Holdman and Coach Diane Akins on these great accomplishments!
