St Bernadette's Primary School
NEWSLETTER | TERM 3 | WEEK 6 | 27 August 2021

Message from Geordie
Good afternoon St Bernie’s,
I hope everyone has had a great week. Another fun week here at school with our Book Week Parade on Wednesday morning. In the Thuijs household, I was also on costume making duties. I was in charge of creating a very specific Dinosaur costume, complete with intricate cardboard head that George had his heart set on! Needless to say, I have had enough of arts and craft for a while… Huge thanks to Cath for getting out on the mic, Jess for her playlist and to all the parents for making it fun for our students. Congratulations also goes to our Year 1 Superstars for their highly entertaining assembly this morning – thanks to Danni for her hard work in getting them prepared.
At this time of the year in every school we start to see many students become tired at school. Every now and then this is when we start to see students react or behave uncharacteristically or get upset just a little easier than they might normally. Our teachers have been talking about treating others with Kindness, Honesty and Respect in class and I have been reiterating this after break times with the whole school. If parents could also talk to their students about this at home, it will help us keep our school calm, happy and engaging for the remaining 4 weeks of term.
So, I had previously created a section below titled, ‘Policy and compliance’ and it would seem that this was not an attractive read to many of our parents. So… I have now called it, ‘Stuff we all need to know’ in the hope that people might have a skim read through! In today’s section, Lisa has added a form for parents to give feedback on the uniform procedure. I actually really like our uniform in general – it is fairly relaxed and practical for primary aged students. We are planning to give it a bit of a tweak though, so please feel free to participate.
Finally, with the weather improving, I am becoming more confident that we should all our school improvements get sorted over the Term 3 break. It is an exciting time and with the support of Paul Papalia and our P&F, we should see resurfaced courts, new air-con in Yr 5 and 6 as well as the new audio/visual system installed in the undercover area. Keep your fingers crossed this beautiful weather continues.
Enjoy the weekend and we will be back for another great week on Monday!
