Open Enrollment Out-of-District program

If you live outside the district boundaries of Garland ISD, you may still be able to attend and experience our excellent schools and programs. This type of out-of-district transfer is known as Open Enrollment. Open Enrollment applications are now open for the upcoming school year. Students must apply and provide documentation to meet the eligibility criteria to participate. Applications are required as open campuses, and available seats are limited. PreK and Kinder Emergent Bilinguals (EB) Summer School registration

GISD is providing a free summer school program for eligible Emerging Bilingual (EB) students who are currently enrolled in prekindergarten or kindergarten. The Emerging Bilingual (EB) Summer School will run June 13-July 1 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please contact your campus to register for EB Summer School. Registration will be from April 8-29.


Free & Reduced Meals Applications for P-EBT due April 29

Families must be certified for Free or Reduced-price Meals by April 29 to be eligible for the 21-22 Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT). See our Free and Reduced-Price Meals page for more information.


2nd Annual Family Engagement Conference

Save the date! The 2nd Annual GISD Summer Family Engagement Conference will be held on July 28th from 5:00-7:30 p.m. This conference will connect families to the resources, information, and relationships families need to support their child’s education. Families must register to attend. The registration window will open in May and close July 1. Visit the Annual Family Engagement Conference page for more information.

We are continuing our Facebook Live Parent University series. The Summer Reading Parent University is scheduled for Tuesday May 17th at 6:00 p.m. Join us for our next Parent University

GISD has partnered with myON as part of our mission to foster literacy. Engage in the Asian and Pacific Islanders Heritage Month Reading Challenge from May 2 – May 27th.


Required Immunizations for 11 Year-Olds

Do you want to avoid long lines and extra doctor fees? Do you want your 11 year-old student to start school on time in the fall? Get your 11-year-old's REQUIRED IMMUNIZATIONS at a GISD Clinic! The Garland ISD Enrollment Center Clinic and Garland Health Department are partnering to offer TWO CONVENIENT LOCATIONS where your student can receive required vaccinations before the start of school.

Free Student Health Services Available

All Garland ISD students now have access to same-day doctor visits from school or from home through our partner Hazel Health. Sign up for this free virtual service today!


COVID-19 Testing

COVID-19 Cases by Location

GISD is committed to transparency as we communicate during the COVID-19 pandemic. In an effort to keep our families, staff and community informed, the COVID-19 Cases by Location webpage shows the number of lab-confirmed cases for staff and remote and face-to-face learners.


Free COVID-19 vaccines

In partnership with the Garland Health Department, Garland ISD is offering free COVID-19 vaccines and boosters, no appointment required. The Enrollment Center Clinics are held every Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. - 4 p.m at Student Services.

Clinics are also held by Garland Public Health on Monday-Fridays from 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. This clinic is at 232 Carver Street, Garland TX.

A COVID vaccine card is required if you have it. For more information, contact the Enrollment Center Clinic (972-494-8538) or Garland Health Department (972-205-3370).

All community members are invited to find and post information about activities, events, camps and other educational programs around the tri-cities using this online, eco-friendly space. GISD Littles Club

Parents are a child's first and most important teacher. Let us help prepare your family for success. Registration is open to all families in Garland, Rowlett and Sachse with children not enrolled in a district school (birth to five years old). Visit our website to join.
