🙏 So many do great things for our kids
Kuna families,
We love to serve your children in our schools and are so thankful to be able to do so.
As we head into the Thanksgiving break, I want to share some of things I'm grateful for:
🙏 Our parents, community members who serve
In our district, we value parent and community involvement in solving problems (and preventing problems) together. All of these activities require participants to donate their time and talents to serve our students:
- School Parent Advisory Councils
- Superintendent Advisory Council
- Capital Plan Task Force
- Growth Committee
- Curriculum Committees
- Parent Teacher Organizations and Associations
- Booster Clubs
- Volunteers
- Our school board!
Thank you to those who serve for your gifts, time and talent.
🙏 City councils & planning and zoning members
We appreciate that the city leaders who consider our feedback in their decision making about projects that impact our students. Some recent decisions of note:
- The Kuna City Council Monday denied a rezone request for a large residential development citing the school district's concerns about lack of capacity to serve new students.
- The Meridian Planning and Zoning earlier this month also denied a large residential project citing our concerns.
Thank you for considering our current and future students in your decision making!
🙏 Get Ready to Learn Kuna members
A decade ago, a group formed with a purpose to ensure Kuna children were ready for school.
Over the years, the "Get Ready to Learn, Kuna" collaborative has picked up new partnerships and funding through grants expanding its efforts.
This year, it's been a joy to see the fruits of their years of work as each of our elementary schools are hosting high-quality (and fun!) Get Ready for Kindergarten sessions for parents of children ages 5 and younger. Sessions are still available -- learn more here.
This week, I visited "My Place Preschool." Two years ago, this high quality preschool had to change locations, finding a home in a wing of the Kuna Nazarene Church.
It was thrilling to see this program bloom and grow to serve more children. Learn more here.
Thank you for your vision and for 10 years of commitment to our parents and our youngest learners.
🙏 Our amazing staff
Thank you for your continued dedication to our students!
🗳️ Want to help educate our voters on our upcoming bond election?
One of the suggestions from several members of the Capital Plan Task Force was that we really need to get the word out. We know the best way to share information is for people to receive information from trusted people in your regular contacts.
If you would like to help inform our community about the upcoming Kuna School District bond election to pay for:
- New elementary school
- Additions to Swan Falls High School
- Expansion, and improvements at Kuna Middle and Fremont Middle schools
- Improved bus service
💰 Legislative page programs provide unique paid opportunity for students
Our state Legislature will return to session in January. The Senate and House of Representatives offer an opportunity for high school students to serve as paid pages for one of two six week terms. The opportunity provides a first-hand opportunity to see how our state government functions as well as the chance to meet state lawmakers.
