NURSE NOTES
From the Nurse’s Office:
I’m back after missing last month’s newsletter deadline! My apologies!
IT. IS. ALLERGY. SEASON.!! If your child suffers from seasonal allergies, please, give him/her their prescribed daily allergy medication every morning or evening. The same goes for allergy eye drops. I cannot administer allergy medication at school without a doctor’s order. I do have Benadryl for food or bug bite allergic reactions at school. Benadryl is not used to treat seasonal allergies during the school day, as one of the possible side effects is drowsiness.
Just thinking about playground and PE safety… the playgrounds are covered with wood mulch, and, some of the students have recess on the blacktop parking lot. Closed toe shoes are safest and recommended for recess play and on the gym floor.
If you have any elastic waist pants or shorts that you’re giving away, please send them my way! I am always accepting elastic waist pants and shorts to replenish the health suite supply.
Please encourage your child to drink plenty of water every day. Students are encouraged to bring a water bottle to school each day!
And, as always, please do not send your child to school if he/she is sick. Students must be fever-free for 24 hours, without the use of a fever reducing medication, before they return to school. Also, please keep them home for 24 hours after the last episode of vomiting or diarrhea.
If you have any questions or concerns, please call the health suite at 443-809-0023 or email me at jmartin13@bcps.org.
Thank you and Happy Spring!!

2018 - 5th Grade Recognition Ceremony
We are pleased to announce that the 2018 5th Grade Recognition Ceremony will be held on Wednesday, June 13th at 9:30 a.m.
The ceremony will be held in the Westowne Cafeteria and will last for about an hour. During the ceremony, students will be recognized for various achievements, a slideshow will be shown commemorating our 5th grade year, and we will even perform a song. This is a fun and important event that we hope all students will attend in addition to their supportive guests.
Since the cafeteria has a certain capacity, students will be limited to four guests (not including the student). We would like to make sure that everyone has a seat and that all guests are able to be quickly admitted into the building.
By June 1, 2018 please provide the first and last names of the guests to your child’s homeroom teacher.
