Barbieri Bulletin

Good morning Barbieri Families,

THANK YOU to all who joined us on Friday night for a fun family night of dancing! Thanks so much to Mrs. Korandanis, Mrs. Combes and Mrs. Rivera for all of their support and efforts in ensuring our dance was a big hit!

ALL student go outside for 30 minutes of recess everyday! If the temperatures are extremely cold then the administrative team sends a message to all staff and we have indoor recess. During indoor recess students can enjoy board games, puzzles, card games, etc. However, this is only when temperatures are very cold! Otherwise. all students enjoy fresh air and physical activity daily. Please be sure to send your child(ren) to school with appropriate clothing to enjoy recess during snow/ rain. Students need:

• snow pants
• rain/snow boots
• hats, scarves, gloves, etc.
• A WINTER COAT

***PLEASE NOTE STUDENTS CAN LEAVE THESE ITEMS IN THEIR LOCKERS AND CUBBIES IF IT IS HELPFUL TO YOU AND BRING THEM HOME EVERY FRIDAY AFTERNOON***

• PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE EARLY FOR DROP OFF.
• Contractually, ALL STAFF are on duty starting at 8:50AM. We CAN'T UNLOAD CARS EARLIER AS THERE IS NOBODY AVAILABLE TO SUPERVISE.
• When cars begin to line up early this causes major traffic delays on Dudley Road and our own staff, who are trying to get into the school parking lot, can't enter and can't be on duty supervising students because they are in the traffic and unable to enter.
• Students should ONLY UNLOAD IN THE TWO LANES IN THE PARKING LOT. DO NOT UNLOAD STUDENTS ON DUDLEY ROAD. There is no supervision on Dudley Road. This is extremely dangerous.
• All staff go inside to support the start of the day by 9:05AM. Duty time is 8:50AM-9:05AM. If you arrive after 9:05AM PLEASE PARK YOUR CAR AND WALK YOUR CHILD TO DOOR 1. ASSIST YOUR CHILD WITH CROSSING THE TWO PARKING LOTS. Students should NOT CROSS ALONE.

At Barbieri School we have disability parking available to families who have disability plates/eligibility. If you do not have disability eligibility please refrain from using these spots. Our school houses the multi-disabilities program and at times families have not been able to access these spaces because others have parked incorrectly in them. Please be mindful.

A HUGE THANK YOU TO OUR ESL TEAM OF TEACHERS, SPECIALISTS, and SpEd TEAM for their support in completing ACCESS testing!!!! ACCESS TESTING IS COMPLETE!!!!

All grade 1 students at Barbieri School will participate in Sage Screening on Tuesday February 28th. The screening will take place in classrooms with Sage Teachers and Classroom Teachers. Results from the screener will be mailed home and made available from the Office of Teaching and Learning. This will take some time, it will not be immediate as ALL GRADE 1 STUDENTS IN THE DISTRICT are being screened. Thank you for your understanding!

We will be celebrating KINDNESS and FRIENDSHIP day at Barbieri School on Tuesday, February 14th! Everyone is encouraged to wear RED!

Classroom teachers/Grade level teams please inform your families of how your class or grade will partake in this day to celebrate a day of kindness and friendship. Parents/guardians have been informed that CANDY/FOOD will NOT BE ALLOWED and will be sent back home if brought into school. Please inform your families ASAP!
