Fish Bowl Auction Tickets for Teachers to Give Away for Awards
Each classroom teacher will receive two sets of five Fish Bowl Auction tickets (10 total) to award prior to the auction to two students in his/her classroom. One set of five should be awarded to a student that demonstrated great character behaviorally and the other set should be awarded to a student that was a high academic achiever.
It is suggested that the tickets be awarded Thursday or Friday April 4-5 (the auction is Saturday the 6th). If a selected student is not able to attend the auction, please show him/her the list of basket options. After said student has put name and phone number on each ticket with choice of basket number, those tickets can be dropped in the fishbowl the night of the auction by the teacher (if attending) or given to Sara Gehrt on Friday. She will make sure the tickets are put in the appropriate fishbowl prior to the auction.
3/20/19 Playground Crisis Drill Reflection
I must say....I'm rather impressed with our staff. Most of you really took this drill to heart - you were very thorough with your responses. You obviously tried very hard to put yourself in that situation and come up with the best plan possible. We even had one teacher explain what they did in real life when a similar situation happened on the kindergarten playground. ; )
Some highlights that stood out:
- I love how almost everyone mentioned blowing the whistle to get the rest of the students to freeze. In such a frantic moment that could be an easy thing to forget, but you didn't! It's a procedure the kids are used to.
- So many of you mentioned trying to remain calm. Such a challenging thing to do in a moment of crisis. I appreciated the honesty. As one person stated, since there are always at least 2 people on duty - the one that was the most calm would remain with the injured child. Great idea.
- Almost everyone mentioned radioing the office - asking for 911 to be called - and asking for nurse Amanda. Perfect next steps. The faster you use the radio the faster help can get to you.
- There were a few people who thought they could call 911 from their cell phone. That's something I hadn't even thought of but a great idea. Yes, in a perfect situation, radioing the office would result in a quick call to 911. But what if something crazy is going on in the office. And really, if you can tell it's going to be an emergency that requires a fire department or the ambulance - why wouldn't you call 911. And if you're not sure - we can decide together as a team as soon as help from the crisis team arrives.
Thank you so much for your thoughtful reflections. Only 8 more drills to go friends. UGH!!!!
