One more chance for 8th Graders and non-Returning 6th/7th Graders to drop off items to SBMS and clean out Gym Lockers! 3-6:30 p.m. today. All students must wear masks, please!
Missed Your Day to Drop Off Chromebooks or Clean Your Locker? No Sweat!
We are hosting another day for returning items to SBMS and picking up items from Gym Lockers. If you have instruments, textbooks, library books, chromebooks, chargers or hotspots to return (8th graders not attending summer school need to return technology) or you need to come clean out your gym locker, please join us:
Wednesday, May 27th
3:00-6:30 p.m.
Students will be required to wear masks, honor all social distancing measures and are the only ones able to report to campus. Students will enter through the doors for the cafeteria that face Piney Point and exit either through the Snack Bar (side parking lot) if they are not cleaning out Gym Lockers or the Championship Hallway if they have that on the list to do. Parents and students may drive through the Band Circle to meet a Band or Orchestra teacher to drop off instruments at that time, too.

SBMS Athletics Newsletter
In order to keep our athletes healthy and safe, the University Interscholastic League (U.I.L.) mandates certain requirements. All athletes must complete the required paperwork in order to be a part of the SBMS Athletics program. The athletics paperwork is electronic through the Rank One website. Athletes that choose to purchase the district insurance, will need to bring a check (made out to Spring Branch ISD) or cash for $25 to his/her coach. Athletes refusing the district insurance will simply upload both the front and back of their health insurance card to the Rank One website. (If both types of insurance are chosen, the athlete will need to upload their health insurance card to the Rank One website and bring $25 to his/her coach). The link to the Rank One website is Here.
All athletes must also have a current physical on file with the coaches. Athletes who have a current physical on file from the 2019-2020 school year may use that physical for the upcoming school year. Those athletes will be required to complete a medical questionnaire on Rank One. Parents may choose to still have their child undergo an annual physical exam if they wish to do so. Athletes that do not have a current physical on file will be required to complete one for the 2020-2021 school year. This would include all incoming 7th graders and any incoming 8th graders that are new to Athletics. An FAQ sheet is available if there are questions about physicals.
The SBMS Athletic Department would like all Rank One paperwork to be submitted by Wednesday, July 15, 2020. Physicals can be emailed or athletes can bring their physicals to a coach when school starts. Athletes will not be allowed to participate in athletics until all paperwork is completed. You may access the paperwork and resources here: Athletics Newsletter Docs and Resources.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to email.

Best Wishes to Mrs. Watkins and Welcome to Mrs. Mulvey!
Congratulations to Ms. Merrie Watkins, SBMS Nurse, for a successful career. As I have announced in previous newsletters, Ms. Watkins is retiring this year and moving to be closer to family. We are sad to see her go as she is a comfort to adult and child at SBMS, but are excited for this new chapter of her life, too. Best wishes, Mrs. Watkins!
Once Ms. Watkins made her announcement to retire, we began interviewing for nurses at SBMS and made our selection! Many of you already know Ms. Mulvey from HCE! Please welcome her to SBMS! We are so excited about her joining SBMS and know she will do an awesome job.
Please read a special message from her to our SBMS Students and Families:
I am so very excited to start my new journey as the new SBMS School Nurse starting next 2020-2021 school year. I have worked over ten years in the district as the school nurse for Hunters Creek Elementary and now following in the HCE Cougar’s footsteps to middle school. This next school year will be unlike any other beginning of school as we recuperate together from this pandemic and stay at home measures. I share with you being the parent of SBMS Bear and ready for our students to return to school healthy and ready to learn. I am an avid reader, runner and love spending time with my husband and 3 daughters. I look forward to being your school nurse starting after summer break and available to discuss your child’s medical needs. I look forward to meeting you next school year.
Sincerely,
Mercedes Mulvey, RN, BSN
¡Mis mejores deseos para la Sra. Watkins y bienvenidos a la Sra. Mulvey!
Sinceramente,
Mercedes Mulvey, RN, BSN

- When will summer school lists be finalized? Summer school lists will be finalized May 29th. More to come. We are still eagerly awaiting submission of work from students.
