NEW: PA's Free Breakfast Program

Gov. Tom Wolf announced on Friday that beginning on October 1, 2022, all Pennsylvania schoolchildren, regardless of family income, will receive free breakfast for the remainder of the 2022-23 school year. Our Food Service Department is diligently working through the logistics of the program, and we will share more information as it becomes available.

Of important note, this is for breakfast ONLY during the 2022-23 school year.

As a reminder, the national waiver that previously provided free meals during the pandemic has expired. However, if your child qualifies for free meals through the State (also known as direct certified) or if you have completed a free/reduced application and have received a letter stating your child is eligible to receive free meals, they WILL also get free lunch at school. If you have any question regarding your child’s meal status, please do not hesitate to contact the Food Service office.

Families who are not direct certified or who have not already completed an application for the 22-23 school year may CLICK HERE to complete a free/reduced meals application at any time throughout the year to determine eligibility. An application is not required for PA's 2022-23 free breakfast program.

Instrument Rental Night (Gr. 4/5 Parents/Guardians)

As previously shared, our Music Department will hold a very important meeting on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022, in the CV High School Performing Arts Center for parents/guardians of students in grades 4 and 5.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. for all strings parents and at 7 p.m. for all band parents. We will be sharing a lot of important information during these meetings about the instrumental programs. There will also be musical instrument dealers onsite so that you can buy or rent the instruments that evening.

Reminder: CV Mini-THON + Salute to Service Tailgates

Prior to our September 16, 2022, football game, two family-friendly tailgates will be hosted on our campus.

Gold Out Tailgate: From 5 to 7 p.m. on Sept 16, 2022, CV Mini-THON will host its annual Gold Out tailgate. The event will take place behind the tennis courts at CVHS, and includes food, fun, and family-friendly games and activities. All money raised benefits the CV Mini-THON and the Four Diamonds. #FTK

Teachers from Cumberland Valley Education Association will be selling foam fingers during the game to benefit CV Mini-THON.

Salute to Service Tailgate: Several high school Patriots’ Clubs from throughout Cumberland County are coming together to host this special tailgate to honor all members of the military and first responders. The tailgate, which is complimentary for military/first responders, will take place from 4-6 p.m. on the practice field (located directly across from Chapman Field and along Dapp Road). A flyover will take place at 6:58 p.m.

Beginning at approximately 6:30 p.m. this night, the band will take to the field, followed by several special recognition ceremonies and Presentation of the Colors in advance of the flyover.

Reminder: Annual Safety Drills

As part of our school safety and security process, and as mandated by law, students and staff in each of our buildings will participate in a school security drill between now and mid October. We recognize that it is critically important to prepare our school community for any potential real-life security incidents by providing our students and staff with these mandated training opportunities.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s building principal should you have any questions.

Please note: Students and staff will continue to practice fire drills on a regular basis throughout the school year.
