Wellness Wednesday
your Counselor - Ms. Mutter, & PBSES Coach - Ms. Kusunose
Hello Newcastle Elementary Community,
I want to start by saying that I am here for you, and I am just an e-mail or a Zoom call away. Please reach out if you are needing any support, or just need to connect. Our community is still very much connected despite being physically distant, and we are all in this together. I saw the below visual, and wanted to share with you because of the perspective (and humor!) it offers during this difficult time:
With the uncertainty and change this time brings, it can be frustrating to feel like we are powerless to forces so much larger than us, however, this can be viewed as an opportunity to discover the power we DO have within ourselves. Over the coming weeks, my goal is to share resources and tips that fall within the "I Can Control" circle - self-care strategies, resilience tools, free movement videos, fun and creative home activities - skills and tools that all family members (all ages!) can practice and enjoy. Please reach out with any suggestions for these weekly newsletters, and Nami and I will be sure to adjust to meet the needs of our community. I will always include an attached link to coronavirus-specific resources, and if you have complications with accessing our available district food supports (or know someone who does), please reach out to me and I will assist in finding a solution that best meets your needs.
Missing you! <3
Your School Counselor,
Ms. Mutter
From Ms. Kusunose
I will also be sending tips and resources related to behavior support at home. You can of course reach out with any questions or needs at any time, at kusunosen@issaquah.wednet.edu. You can also check my website, which will be regularly updated, at https://connect.issaquah.wednet.edu/staff/newcastle/kusunosen.
For now, I want to share a poem that offers a silver lining:
