Hixson Happenings

September 11, 2001

I remember September 11, 2001 very clearly. The tragic events of the day unfolded before our eyes on a television screen as we waited patiently in the hospital for my nephew to be born. Fourteen years later my husband and I had the opportunity to visit the 9/11 memorial in New York City. As we walked on the grounds of where the tragedy occurred and gazed into the gaping holes of where the towers once stood, we could feel sorrow hanging in the air. I will always remember that moment.

We will never forget the heroes, victims and all who were affected (and are still affected) by this attack on our country. Let us take time today to honor them.

Construction Update

The Hixson administrators and members of the district technology department watched the installation of the panels of our new gym from the roof on Tuesday. It was very cool to watch the crane plant the first panel in the ground with such precision and care. If you would like to watch video of this process, click on the link below!

Big picture

Hixson Middle School Book Drive!

Hixson Middle School is a community of readers. We would like to provide an opportunity for students to take a break from their screens by putting a book in their hands. We are partnering with The Novel Neighbor to reach this goal. If you are able to support us, please select from the list below to purchase a book for a middle schooler!

If you'd prefer to make a monetary donation instead of a book, you can do so at the bottom of this page.

All book drive books will be delivered to Hixson by the Novel Neighbor. The checkout page will say "In-store pickup," but you do not have to do anything after you complete payment.

Hixson Spirit Wear Store!

Please click on the link below to access the Hixson Spirit Wear store. The store will be open until September 30, 2020. Proceeds will go to our efforts to beautify Hixson's campus.

From the Library

If your middle schooler has ever said, "I just can't find anything good to read!" then we have a great option for you! The Truman Readers Award encourages students in their early teen years to express their unique voice through exploring new literary genres, communicating with their peers about young adult literature, and honoring authors writing for young teens. Books are written for students from 6th to 8th grade. Students must read four of the nominee books to vote on their favorite in March 2021.

Click the link below for the list of Truman Nominees.

Technology Support

Below is a link to the technology support ticket system we are utilizing to help give our learners and families the most efficient system to help us keep track of technology support requests. Use this site to submit when you are having technology difficulties with your child's equipment/access/accounts/etc.
