Field Flash
January 28, 2022
Dear Field Parents and Guardians,
We hope that you and your family have had a nice week. Between the snow and the extreme cold, winter is definitely here! And it looks like we can expect more winter weather this coming week. Thank you for ensuring your child(ren) comes to school with snow boots and pants!
I will continue to include a recap of some COVID-related items in my newsletters. Thank you in advance for your help in following these guidelines!
- Please keep all unvaccinated siblings home if anyone in the household displays symptoms. We really need your cooperation with this now more than ever.
- If your vaccinated child has symptoms, please keep them home.
- If your child is fully vaccinated, please upload his or her card into PowerSchool. As a reminder, fully vaccinated students who are close contacts with a positive remain in school and do not need to quarantine (unless symptoms would develop).
- The isolation or quarantine period is now 5 days, with the ability to return to school is symptoms are improving and fever-free for 24 hours. Please know children must remain masked outside for 5 days after this 5 day isolation/quarantine at home. Please do talk about this with your child, if or when this is applicable. Thank you!
- Weekly Testing: we've had some questions about weekly testing opt-in. In December, Dr. Olson shared that all families needed to go into PowerSchool to make a new selection for January (and beyond). That means if you wanted to continue with testing, you had to go into PowerSchool and re-select that option. The District will communication when the window opens again to opt back into testing if you missed this opportunity.
A few additional important reminders:
- Colder Weather: Now that winter weather is really here, please make sure that your child is dressing to be outdoors for recess. We instruct students to wear their hats, gloves, mittens, winter coats, etc. Please be sure your child is dressed for outdoor recess. In addition, please begin to think about snow gear (pants, boots). When we have snow, students continue to go outside for recess but can only play on the snow when dressed in pants/boots. As always, label items, please!
- CARES tickets: as part of our building-wise positive behavior system, students can earn CARES tickets. Each Friday, each classroom selects a winning ticket and that student comes down to the office for a small prize. We are so proud of our students and their excellent respectful and responsible behavior!
- February Open House: We decided to postpone our February Open House until later this spring. Thank you for your understanding. We'll share the new date soon.
- Kiss and Go reminders: Please remember that the Kiss and Go areas are intended for quick drop offs. Adults should remain in the car and students should exit quickly.
I hope you have a safe and healthy weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Courtney Goodman
Principal
Masking Reminders
Recently we have seen some information circulating social media that is encouraging students to come to school without masks on Tuesday, February 1st. This day is being referenced as “Illinois School Mask Off Day”. Please know that we will continue to adhere to our state health and safety guidelines and will be enforcing our practice of mask wearing while at school. If students arrive at school without a mask, we will provide one to whomever is in need. Should students refuse to wear a mask, we will call families and ask them to pick up their child from school. Students will not be allowed to attend their classes unless masks are appropriately worn.
As always, we thank you for your continued support. Please reach out if you have any questions.
