Dear SHMS Families:
I hope everyone had a nice break last week. We are excited for our winter concerts to begin next week. Both our staff and students have been working very hard to prepare for these concerts. Please see the concert information below.
Students will patriciate in the second round of MAP testing on Monday, December 5th and Wednesday, December 14th. Students should make sure they have charged Chromebooks on both days. The first trimester will end on December 9th. Seventh and eighth grade students will change their specials rotation on December 12th for trimester classes.
The weather is changing and has been a bit chilly. We will have outdoor recess through the winter months whenever possible. Students should expect to go outside on most days. They should bring jackets and dress appropriately as the weather continues to change.
I want to thank the SHMS Home and School for supplying hot chocolate at last week’s 6th grade Turkey Trot. We appreciate your support.
Go Panthers!

Music Information
Attached you will find a schedule for our remaining concert weeks! Please note the following:
- No ensembles will rehearse at 7 am after their concerts! Our students have worked hard and deserve some extra sleep. Rehearsals will pick up as normal in January.
- Friday December 9th will be a 6th Grade Band Rehearsal at 7 am
- There will be an in school concert the DAY BEFORE each evening concert during 7th/8th periods as well as dress rehearsals during the school day. Your student will be reminded of this throughout the week, and dress rehearsal periods will be posted on google classrooms. Concert attire is required (all black)
- Call time for each concert evening is 6:30 pm in the music wing. Students should check in with their directors if they are in multiple ensembles.
We do not expect the evening concerts to exceed 1 hour and do encourage families and students to stay for the duration of the concert, even if their portion is over. Our young musicians have put in so many hours of rehearsal that everyone deserves to be supported by their peers and other music families.

SHMS Sports
SHMS Families,
During this holiday season, please consider helping our neighbors in need. SHMS Student Council is working with Cityteam in Chester to help collect new, unwrapped toys and gently used winter clothing. They are accepting toys and clothes for all ages, but there is a strong need for the following items:
- Multicultural baby dolls and Barbies
- Legos
- Infant and toddler toys
- Arts and craft kits
- Remote controlled cars
- New socks
- Men's winter clothing
- New winter coats
We are collecting items now through Monday, December 12th. Please share in the holiday spirit by giving to those less fortunate.
