Roadrunner Review Principal Update
Edition #3 October 3, 2022
Rituals, Routines, Expectations and Bullying
Our 3 School-wide rules are:
- Be responsible
- Be respectful
- Be ready to learn
Please continue to help us reinforce these expectations as well as explain the difference between bullying, being mean or being rude.
Mrs. Buhl has spent some time in classrooms talking about this with students and will be making a visit to all classrooms by early next week to cover the school-wide rules and bullying.
We are continuing to see many students who are choosing to play fight and/or use their hands/body to try to solve conflict. Please remind your child(ren) that being ready to learn, being respectful and being responsible includes keeping your hands and feet to yourself. Encourage them to use their words as well as ask for adult support when conflicts arise. Your help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Together,
Tracy Buhl, Principal
Volunteer Opportunity: Patron of the Lost and Found
What once was lost can now be found around the main staircase
With cold mornings and warm afternoons jackets are being discarded throughout the building and the playground. As a result, our Lost and Found, located at the main staircase, is overflowing. Please label every item of clothing that your student is likely to remove and along with lunchboxes and water bottles. Currently we have15 light jackets, sweatshirts and sweaters in the Lost and Found area and not a single one has a name on it!
We need help managing our Lost and Found. We are looking for a parent volunteer to come in once a week to collect, photograph and display the items that have been mislaid. The photographs will be shared in a link that all families can view online. Unclaimed items will be donated to Goodwill after appearing for two weeks on the Lost and Found At Crossroads link.
Please contact the main office for this volunteer opportunity. Crossroads main line: 651-767-8540. Thank you.

Assistant Principal - Heidi Dunlap
In case you missed it...Heidi joined our team in July of 2022 and this letter with photo went out at that time. Thank you!
Hello Crossroads Families,
I am excited for the opportunity to join your learning community as assistant principal in July!
I have been a proud Saint Paul Public School educator for over 20 years. I’ve worked with a variety of school communities and programs, most recently serving as assistant principal at Humboldt High School. I love collaborating with students, staff, and families to support student success.
My husband and I have three children who keep us very busy in the evenings and on weekends. Our oldest son will be heading off to college in the fall. Our middle son will be a high school junior and our youngest and only daughter will be starting middle school. When we have free time, we enjoy watching football (Go Packers!), binging the latest shows, and seeing new places together.
I’m looking forward to meeting each of you in the coming weeks.
Best,
Heidi Dunlap
Crossroads is HIRING

These positions are posted on the district website. If you know of someone who might be interested in one of these positions, please have them reach out to Mrs. Buhl via email: tracy.buhl@spps.org or via phone 612-946-0385 (cell) and 651-744-6933 (work phone). Thank you! Word of mouth is the best way to spread the news and find new staff to hire.
Reporting Daily Absences
Crossroads Attendance Line 651-744-4513
~Please use our Attendance Line, 651-744-4513, to report absences. This helps free up our phone lines for transportation issues in the morning. If you would like our school nurse to check in with you, please leave that in your message.
iUpdate One Stop
Only 50% of Crossroads families have completed iUpdate as of September 30th. iUpdate is the place to confirm that we have the correct information for your household including addresses, phone numbers and emergency contacts as well as permission for technology use, walking field trips, media permission and more.
You can access iUpdate through the Campus Parent Portal. There are directions explaining the process in several languages and a clickable link to Parent Portal at SPPS One Stop.
Early Pick up and Student Dismissal 2:00pm
~If you need to pick your child up during the school day for an appointment, please call the office at least 30 minutes in advance. We will call them down when you arrive.
~Changes in your child’s end of day dismissal arrangements, for example you will be picking them up instead of them taking the bus, must be called into the Main Office line at 651-767-8540 by 12:45! It is disruptive to learning when teachers are interrupted multiple times an afternoon with pink "Change of Dismissal" forms.
~Only those walking or biking to pick up their child should come to the front door with their number. Parking and coming to the door will not expedite collecting your child. The car line at the end of the day is the best and quickest way to pick up your child. Please enter off of Mackubin heading south (towards Front). This will help the Prescription Landscape neighbors to move trucks in and out during our dismissal time. Thank you for your understanding and helping us be good neighbors in the community.
