## TRANSFORMATION

A transformation is when a shape or object changes location and the two shapes must be congruent

## CONGRUENT

Congruent means for two figures to be the same shape and same size.

## Triangles These 2 triangles are congruent. | ## Squares These two shapes look different but they are not they are congruent. | ## Rhombuses This is the exact same shape so they are congruent. |

## TRANSLATION

A translation is when the figure is the same shape, same size, same position but it is in a different location.

## An F The F only changes location so it is creating a translation. | ## Squares They are only changing location so they can be translations. | ## Triangles Since the triangles don't change shape, size, or position they are creating a translation. |

## ROTATION

A rotation is when a figure or object moves around a point.

## Triangles The triangles moved around a point so they created a rotation. | ## Rectangles The rectangles created a rotation. | ## Blobs The blobs are moving around a point and that way they create a rotation. |

## REFLECTION

A reflection is when there is two figures that are in the opposite position and if they were drawn on paper then they would have a line of symmetry.

## TRIANGLES These triangles are the opposite of one another so they are creating a reflection. | ## THE LETTER N These letter N's are opposite of each other and create a line of symmetry so they are each other. reflecting | ## THUMBS UP HANDS These hands are creating a because the y have a line of symmetry and they are the opposite of each other. reflection |

## THE LETTER N

These letter N's are opposite of each other and create a line of symmetry so they are
