What Does Gratitude Look Like?
We were so affirmed last week during Teacher Appreciation Week. Your kindness blew us away!! Here's what your expressions of gratitude looked like. You put up special, themed decorations each day as we were taken "Around the World" to France, Hawaii, China and Mexico. You wore outfits to match the theme for each day as well. You gave your time to set up, clean up, decorate, and serve snacks and lunch. You monitored our kids during lunch so all staff could have a time to eat. You donated goodies and gift cards. You sent thank-you notes and cards of appreciation. You gave gifts to your children's teachers. You stopped in the car line to call out a "Thank You" and "We Love You" and "We Appreciate You." You gave us memories and laughter and positivity during a time of year that can be stressful. You gave of yourself and your talents and your time and your finances and your energy. For all of this and so much more, we are humbled and grateful. I hope you know that what you really gave this week was lots of encouragement. I believe teaching is more challenging than it has ever been. There are competing demands, high expectations, and lots of voices calling for our attention. Often, our heads are spinning and we wonder which way we should go. Amidst all the noise, we simply want to help kids grow and to make a difference in them. Thank you for reminding us this week that our role in your child's life is important and that you are with us as we care for our children. As I think about all that happened last week, it reminds me how important it is to value and appreciate others. You have inspired me to maybe think a little more creatively and differently as I celebrate some very important ladies in my life for Mother's Day this coming week. I am heartfelt when I say that I appreciate all you do to support your child and our school. We are blessed indeed.
Strength and Blessings to You,
Mr. Maness
