JROTC FOOD DRIVE - PHASE ONE ENDS ON 11/20/15
The annual JROTC sponsored food drive for the Bobbie Odom Food Pantry; New Market United Methodist Church will begin tomorrow, November 6, 2015.
Like last year, we will have 2 phases for the food drive. Phase 1 (Thanksgiving) starts Friday and ends on Thursday, November 20th. Phase 2 (Christmas) starts on December 1st and ends on December 15th.
For each phase, we ask students to turn-in their canned and non-perishable food items to the teacher of their choice. JROTC Cadets will collect and count the food items every day or two during that teacher’s planning period.
Teachers: please separate the food items by A & B Day & by block/class.
The class that donates the most food items will get a free breakfast (courtesy Dr. Chumbley’s Culinary Class) if a 1st block class wins or free Domino’s Pizza and soft drinks if a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th block class wins.
Note: Ten Ramen Noodles will count as ONE food item. Please support this food drive. It supports local families!!
Thanks!!!! #BuckPride

Auburn University and the College of Agriculture invite our students to the Auburn campus on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2015, to be part of Ag Elite, a program celebrating outstanding minority high school students who enjoy and excel in science and want to make life better for people in their communities and around the world.
During Ag Elite, they will introduce our students to agricultural and environmental sciences, to the many rewarding career opportunities available in the food, agricultural, and natural resources fields, and to the majors that will prepare our students for those careers. Our students will also have the chance to meet with faculty members and current students in their major of interest, learn about the dozens of scholarships offered by the College of Agriculture and Auburn, get advice on how to apply for admission to Auburn, and get in the running for a $1,000 scholarship that will be presented to one student at the end of the program.
To apply for Ag Elite, and to be eligible for the scholarship, students must fill out and submit the online application, available at the link below: http://agriculture.auburn.edu/admissions/events/ag-elite/.
In addition to the application, students must submit a 300- to 500-word essay describing their career goals and how the scholarship would help them achieve those goals. A letter of recommendation from a current or past teacher or counselor is also required and can be mailed, emailed or faxed. The deadline for all materials is Nov. 20, 2015.
