Exploring the classrooms
This week in kindergarten the students were singing and dancing to their popcorn words. They created tally sheets based on the letter "n". In first grade the students were working on the sound that "ea". They were utilizing their reading strategies such a flippy dolphin to help the attack words. In grade 2, students were reading the book Pink and Say by Patricia Palacco. They were also using strategies such as turn and talk to discuss the lifespan of various animals. I grade 3, the students are building reading stamina. Everyday they choose just right books and find a spot in the room, sometimes in Mrs. Stimson's comfy chair to read books. This week I was able to listen to stories such as Harry Potter, Big Nate, and Dairy of a Wimpy Kid. In fifth grade the students worked on identifying qualities of a good person. They used books and had to describe whether or not various characters were good and prove their thoughts. In grade six, I watch the students ponder over their math question of the week. They were able to help each other or work independently. Mr. Snell has also spent lots of time making a very nice student library.
