SPOTLIGHT ON RELATED ARTS
Computer Lab - Mrs. Trudy Watts
In Computer Lab, 1st through 5th grades are focusing on keyboarding skills. They get to explore the following websites focused on those keyboard/typing skills:
*https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/z3c6tfr
*www.typingtest.com (This website helps them learn what their WPM (words per minute) is. They write their WPM scores in their computer folder, which helps them keep track of their scores throughout the year).
In Kindergarten, they are using the website www.starfall.com to help them learn how to control and work the computer mouse.
Physical Education (PE) - Mrs. Pigg
We learned about our similarities and differences in a great get to know me game the first week of PE. We are now beginning to work on team building skills and sportsmanship for 2nd - 5th graders. K-1 are getting their magic space bubbles this week and learning how to move and share space in the gym!
ART - Ms. Ham
Now that rolls have been called, seats have been assigned and rules discussed, students are beginning their first projects in Art class. Art projects vary in approach, with a focus on materials/ tools, concepts, Art history, or a combination of processes. This student is applying the rules of proportion in a portrait drawing.
ART - Ms. Ham
In each Art class, at every grade level, ONE student is awarded a golden coin. The gold coin represents noteworthy behavior demonstrated by the recipient. These behaviors may include, but are not limited to, work ethic, creativity, participation, perseverance, helpfulness, and personal achievement. A golden coin is very special. It means that Ms. Ham is very proud of that student and that they should be very proud of their own success.
ART - Ms. Ham
The first question asked from Kindergarten students is “When are we going to paint?” Second week in and students are learning the rules and expectations of using paint and brushes. We are working to be responsible in cleaning up. While we try not to get paint on ourselves, accidents sometimes happen. No worries though; the paint is washable.
