Varsity Cheerleading Update

Jefferson Junior High School

Before Competition:

We are going to cheer at the Bellwood game after school. They are state finalists. The game will start at 4:00. Mrs. Piento volunteered to supervise the girls during the game. After the game (or a little before the end if it runs long), the girls will get carpooled to DGN for the mat time with the varsity cheerleading team and their coach from 5:30-6:30. The team moms generously volunteered to go supervise the girls at DGN since I am STILL STUCK in the Dominican Republic. The varsity coach knows this, and she said she will help out however she can. I tweeted out an agenda for this hour work session through @JJHCheer if you are interested. Thank you to everyone for pulling together and helping out... we go to the airport and call United every day trying to get flights out. It looks like we will be able to go home tomorrow. Yay!!!!!

We will have practice extended from 3:30-6:30 in the gym at JJH. Taylor (from U of I) volunteered to lead that practice - THANK YOU! Just come in work out clothes and meet in my room at 3:35 ready to cheer.

Girls should wear their neon pride t-shirts from Neon Night and black yoga pants to school with their neon bows that Abby made for all of us. Carpool will leave JJH at noon to take the girls to Peoria. We actually had more than enough drivers volunteer to take the girls down and bring them home (thank you to all of you!!) Here are the drivers and the passengers for our road trip:

Gordey - Karissa, Malina, and Rachel

Rozema - Sophie, Julie, and Grace

McKendree - Kayla, Emily, Amaya, and Giuliana

Bouma - Charli, Rakiya, Lora, Jaresa

Baran - Abby, Mikayla, Jaccara, and Sarah

We will stop for lunch at a fast food place on our drive (girls should pack a little cash for this, or pack a lunch). Once we get there, we'll check in and the girls will have a little bit of down time before we meet at 5:00pm. We have to head over to the Civic Center around 6 for our Practice Mat time. We have dinner reservations at 7:30 at Old Chicago (about a half a mile from the hotel). If you want to know how much money to bring, just think about what you'd like to order off the menu which can be found here: and bring enough to cover what you want... plus tax, tip, and drink. At the competition on Saturday, they do not allow outside food for lunch, but they do sell concessions at the Civic Center for the girls.

I'll send a packing list out as soon as possible. But - for sure you should plan to wear neon t-shirt, bow, and yoga pants to school Friday, for when we check in, and when we practice/do team dinner. Pack PJ's and light makeup/hair stuff for competition prep the next morning. Everyone will do poofs with high ponytails. Pack full uniform and money for food during the weekend. I'll let you know if I think of anything else!!
