Media Center Volunteers
Additional thanks to parents & staff that helped out reconfiguring the layout of the media center yesterday and today. Furniture and books were rearranged to more effectively use the space. The 20 new iMac computers have arrived and are being set up today. Our Media Center is gonna be AMAZING for our students and staff!
WET & WILD ON THE HOOCH!
Our younger students and their families, walked the beautiful trails along the Chattahoochee River picking up bags of litter. Our middle school students removed a huge amount of Chinese Privet from the wetlands at the Chattahoochee Nature Center. Our conservation guide, Rebecca, said we removed a record amount of privet in a short time period. So while we all got really muddy, the soft ground made our task significantly easier!
At the awards ceremony, FSA took home the Wet & Wild Award so check out our latest addition to the Mustangs Trophy Case!
What is the Student Activity Fee?
We recognize that the name of our organization as it currently exists, Parent Volunteer Organization, may be misleading and families may believe that this is a voluntary cost associated with the education and enrichment of our students. We are currently in the process of changing our 501c3 name to Mustang Support Organization, which will better reflect the purpose of this group. The $100 is tax-deductible, as are any additional contributions that you may wish to make.
Many parents have asked "What does this activity fee pay for and why is it mandatory?"
Throughout the year, our organization provides support to the school's faculty and coordinates and funds educational enrichment and celebratory activities beyond the day-to-day functions covered by tuition. We organize and help fund school-wide events such as S.T.E.A.M. Day, Earth Day, Thanksgiving Dinner, Valentines Dance, 8th Grade Graduation Dance, Bookfair, PI Day, Teacher Appreciation, Last Blast Carnival, Red Ribbon Week, Cyber Safety. We also organize a number of other charitable outreach events to promote Fulton Science Academy within our community including the recent fundraising event for Blessings In A Backpack and the upcoming community events like Rivers Alive and the Roswell Youth Day Parade. We also actively work on behalf of FSAPS to apply for grants for technology, environmental programs, etc.
Every student is eligible to participate in these programs. It would be unfair for less than 55% of our families to pay for 100% of our students, which is what happened during last years membership drive. We want to continue to offer these fantastic programs for our students, especially as our school continues to grow and new students join our FSAPS family.
If you have already registered and paid your activity fee, we thank you! If it has slipped your mind, we have made it really easy to do right now…just click on the link above and you may register online and pay via PayPal. IF YOU HAVE NOT REGISTERED AND PAID, IT IS NOW PAST DUE! WE WILL BEGIN PERSONALLY CONTACTING FAMILIES NEXT WEEK! We have so many upcoming activities and we don't want to waste our volunteer hours personally contacting families that have not registered by the deadline, so please take a moment and do it now to support the school.
