We loved seeing your children back in person this week. We can't wait to meet our newest kindergarten leaders tomorrow! Please take some time to review the information below about the upcoming events at East High!

Reusable Water Bottles for students

Please be sure to send a reusable water bottle with your child to school daily. The water bottle should have your child's name and teacher so it can be returned if lost. We have multiple bottle fillers all round East High for students to use.

This year at East High we have switched up lunch/recess and we now have recess before lunch! We are finding this change to be a great one for our students! However, they are very thirsty when they enter the cafeteria. Providing a water bottle for your child will help with this!

If you child is in need of a reusable water bottle, please contact Mrs. Bittinger (kari_bittinger@etownschools.org) with your child's name and teacher.

Forms for Families in the Community Portal

All families must log-on to the Community Portal to complete important paperwork about their child(ren).

Medication and First Aid Consent: In mid-August, we experienced technical difficulty with some Parent/Guardian submissions of our Medication and First Aid Consent Forms. As such, if you see the Medication and First Aid Consent Forms tabs reappear in your child’s Community Portal account, you must submit them again. These online documents provide critical direction for our health services department if our school nurses need to care for your child while they are in school. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you in advance for your diligence in submitting these necessary forms.

We are so happy to announce...

Remi, our service dog in training, will periodically be back at East High throughout the fall! Strict Covid-19 precautions have been established to maintain safety for students and staff. If you do NOT feel comfortable with your child interacting with the dog, sign the form that will be sent home on Monday (or download a copy below) and return it with your child to school before September 2, 2021. By not signing and returning this form you are giving consent for your child to interact with a service dog under supervision of the trained handlers who are also school personnel.

Turning Restrictions at East High Street Elementary School

During morning arrival and afternoon dismissal there are turning restrictions coming in and out of East High. These restrictions were put into place to ensure the safety of our students and increase the efficiency of the traffic flow.

Back to School Night for Grades 1 and 2 - Thursday, September 9th from 6:30-7:30

Our Back to School Night for families of students in grades 1 and 2 will take place on Thursday, September 9th from 6:30-7:30. Please refer to the schedule below since this will look different than it has in year's past.

Schedule for Tuesday, September 9th for grades 1 and 2

  • 6:30-7:00 PM - Families who wish to attend Back to School night in person must attend during this time frame. Families will report directly to their child's homeroom class. This session will end promptly at 7:00 in order for teachers to prepare for their Zoom sessions at 7:10.
  • 7:00 - Session ends for the in-person families
  • 7:10-7:30 - Zoom ONLY option for families who do not want to attend back to school night in person. Teachers will be e-mailing a Zoom link for their individual sessions. There will be no in-person sessions offered during this time frame.

Special Notes:

  • Kindergarten teachers will NOT be available on September 9th. The kindergarten back to school night was held earlier in August.
  • If you have children in grades 1 AND 2 please reach out to your child's individual teacher. Teachers will be recording individual Zoom sessions and/or will be sending out a video of their presentation to families.
  • Questions about your child's classroom procedures should be directed to your child's teacher.
  • Please remember Back to School night is about the general classroom and procedures. Any questions/concerns about your individual child should be shared at a different time.

Please note: We understand masks are creating adverse conversations. We respect families' positions and personal choice in this matter. Please allow these upcoming conversations with the Teachers to be about your child's education as we follow the board approved health and safety plan.

Back to School Night for all English Language Development Families!

The Back to School Night for English Language Development Families and their students will be held on Monday, September 20th from 5:00-7:00PM in the Middle School auditorium.

Families of students in this program are invited to attend!

East High Street Procedures for the 2021-2022 school year!

Please review the below information which will outline all of East High's procedures for the 2021-2022 school year. Here will find specific information on arrival/dismissal, car rider, lunch, attendance/educational trip requests, reporting absences and many more topics.

Please contact the office if you have any questions.

Changes in transportation or schedule

If you need to change the transportation for your child, please email the attendance email and your child’s teacher with your request prior to 9:00 AM. You can also call the main office at 717-361-0099 with the change.

Please note: If you have a transportation change after 9:00 AM, please only call the main office and DO NOT email the teacher or the attendance email. We cannot guarantee the email will be received throughout the day.

We send children home the way they are assigned so any changes in transportation need to be communicated in a timely manner.

Reporting your Child Absent

If your child will be absent from school there are 2 ways to report the absence:

  • Call the East High office (717-361-0099) and press option 7. Please state your name, your child’s name, teacher’s name and reason for absence.
  • Email the attendance email and provide your name, your child’s name, teacher’s name and reason for absence.
  • East High Families: EH_Attendance@etownschools.org

Educational Trips for the 2021-2022 School Year

If your family is taking an educational trip during the school year a form must be completed at least 5 days prior of leaving for the trip. This is so we can ensure teachers have adequate time to prepare any materials you child(ren) may need.

Information about the Form:

  • The completed form must be received in the building principal's office at least five (5) days in advance of the tour or trip.
  • Check the status of your request on EASD's online Community Portal on the attendance link. You are able to check future absences.
  • Forms that are received with less than 5 days notice may be coded as illegal absences

Parent/Guardian Technology Center

EASD students use electronic devices to access online resources for classroom instruction. Students in grades K-2 use iPads and Chromebooks while students in grades 3-12 use Chromebooks. Upon registering in the district, student technology accounts are created automatically so they are able to log in to district devices and access online instructional resources. Please read the information in the Technology Center to learn more about the student devices, technology accounts and troubleshooting measures.

Parents are encouraged to create their own technology accounts in our school systems to access their student's demographic information, digital report cards, and daily classroom instruction and grades.

For more specific information, such as where to find your student's Schoology Parent Access code please email techsupport@etownschools.org.
