On-Screen Reading
Not only do students need to learn how to read printed text, they also need to learn how to read on-screen text. Printed text and text digitally are really two different things. Just because students can pick up a piece of paper or open a book and read it easily, does not mean they can always do the same thing online. The different features, for one, can limit a student's success with online reading. For instance, students may know how to move the mouse, but do they really know what the cursor symbols mean and why they are important?
Are you ready for a Test?
Let's test your cursor symbol knowledge! Can you name the following symbols? But more importantly, do you know each symbols' function?
How did you do? (Answers below)
Just like some students, probably not so hot. Knowing these symbols (and many more features) allows students to navigate more efficiently and do a better job comprehending. Take time today to check out these symbols with your child and explore how they work!
