2020-2021 Preschool Enrollment Information
Preschool Application for 2020-2021
will be open ONLINE January 13, 2020 at 7am
Your child will be eligible to apply for preschool if they will be turning 3 and/or 4 years old on or before September 15, 2020
If you do not have access to a computer or would simply like assistance, we invite you to come to the Educational Leadership and Support Center (located at 2500 Edgewood Rd N.W.) on Monday, January 13th and Tuesday, January 14th from 8am-4:30pm
Spanish, Swahili, French and Nepali Interpreters will be available.
***Daily transportation to and from Preschool is the responsibility of the parent and is not provided by the district.***
Needed documents: The following documents can be uploaded through the online application process.
If need be, however, you may take them to your child’s school before the first day of classes or email them to earlylearning@crschool.us
CHILD’S BIRTH CERTIFICATE
● Your child must be turning 3 or 4 on or before September 15, 2020 to apply to a 3 or 4 year old Preschool program
*For assistance obtaining a copy of your child’s birth certificate contact Linn County Vital Records or the Iowa Department of Public Health.
HOUSEHOLD INCOME VERIFICATION
● If you wish to be considered for grant opportunities
● Two most current paystubs per working parent and/or a Letter of Notice from Iowa DHS stating eligibility
*Iowa DHS medical and/or food assistance card is NOT enough for proof
Preschool placement is NOT guaranteed, and applications cannot be approved without the above documents.
Preschool Next Steps: Families will receive a Notice of Acceptance to the Preschool Program by email that will state whether your child has been placed to a school or placed on the waitlist for a program.

The Early Learning Preschool Program is offered Monday through Thursday with two sessions
each day. The AM session is scheduled from 8:50 am-11:50 am and the PM session from 12:50 pm-3:50 pm.

How to Register: Do you currently have a student(s) attending a Cedar Rapids school?
YES - Please use your Infinite Campus Parent Portal to register your Kindergartener for 2020-2021.If you need assistance setting up your parent portal account, please call 558-2570 or contact your school.
NO - Please go to the Cedar Rapids Community School website at http://www.cr.k12.ia.us/schools/how-to-enroll/ to register your Kindergartener for 2020-2021 and welcome to the district!
*Your child will be eligible to enroll in kindergarten if they will be turning 5 years old on or before September 15, 2020
Documents you will need to provide:
- PROOF OF RESIDENCE (*This document is required for your student’s registration to be complete*) Please provide ONE of the following: A current utility bill (such as gas or electric), a current lease agreement or mortgage statement. You may upload your Proof of Residency during the online process, take it to your student's school or email it to registration@crschool.us.
- CHILD’S BIRTH CERTIFICATE Your child must be turning 5 on or before September 15, 2020 to enroll in Kindergarten. - CERTIFICATE OF IMMUNIZATION • State law requires evidence of up to date immunizations (or state authorized exemption) in order to attend school. Alternative Kindergarten Information: Our Alternative Kindergarten Program is based on student screenings. To set up a screening for your child, you must enroll them in kindergarten and then set up a time for their screening online. Volunteers Needed....
*“Tidying Up” Spring Cleaning Support
Need: 2-4 adults on Monday, January 20th 9:00am-2:30pm
JSA supports a large number of students each year with winter coats, hats, gloves and boots. We also assist learners who may find themselves in need of a clean pair of pants or shirts during the day. JSA thanks the families who donate items that their child may have outgrown for these needs. Our storage space is limited however and as we move into 2nd Semester, that space is in need of a clean out and re-organization. Is making a space tidy something that brings you joy? If so, it would bring us joy to have the volunteer assistance! Please contact Ms. Conyers, aconyers@cr.k12.ia.us or 319-558-2174 to join a few staff for the organization fun!
*Hearing Van Volunteers-
