Next Up--District National Qualifying Tournament!
If you have been asked by Mrs. Batha or Ms. E or if you want to compete at the District Tournament, you must come to a meeting this Monday afternoon at 3:15 in Mrs. Batha's room.
The New Mexico District Tournament, also known as the National Qualifying Tournament, will be held on March 10-12 at Albuquerque Academy. Because of the extremely competitive nature of this tournament, Hilltalkers will be selected to compete based on their participation this year, their overall win/loss record including State, and their ability to attend the National Tournament in Salt Lake City on June 11-17, 2016 and their willingness to commit to intensive practices in May and June. http://www.speechanddebate.org/nationals
Students who cannot compete at the National Tournament cannot compete at the District Tournament. The District Tournament is a double elimination tournament and is very competitive. It is unethical for us to bring a competitor to the District tournament who has no intention of going to Nationals who might knock out competitors who truly wish to compete at the National Tournament. Those who do qualify for the National Tournament must commit to intensive preparation and practices during May and June.
Students may sign up for this tournament on SignUp Genius once they have been selected to compete. http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f094ea5af2aa5f94-distict
Students must confirm their competition slots by signing up and paying on SignUp Genius or by bringing a check to Mrs. Batha by Friday, March 4 at 3 pm.
The cost for the District Tournament is $100 and will include dinner on Thursday night, lunch and dinner on Friday night, and lunch on Saturday as well as two hotel nights and transportation.
Congratulations to our Hilltalkers Science Bowl Winners
