Water and fluids are very important to a athletes diet. An athlete needs to drink plenty of water often and in a good amount for an athletes body.
Water
Water is the most important fluid for an athlete to consume to stay healthy and motivated!
Gatorade
Is great to replenish an athletes electrolytes!
Milk
Milk is great recovery fluid for an athlete. It is also a great to build strong bones!
PROTEIN
Protein is important for muscle growth and to repair body tissues. Protein can also be used by the body for energy, but only after carbohydrate stores have been used up first!
Foods to AVOID
When nutrition is key for an athlete there are several foods to avoid, however here are a few of the many!
POP
Pop is a major food to avoid for an athlete.
Sweets
Having an over abundance of sweets can put back and athletes work. For athletes training this is also a major food to avoid when training or working out.
Energy Drinks
Energy drinks have no nutritional value to an athlete, and is something to avoid.
More Tips For An Athlete!
- Make sure to eat before, during, and after your sport. This helps maintain blood glucose levels, which will help enhance an athletes and teams sports performance.
- We've all had the nervous feeling in our stomach before a competition, it is important to eat at least a snack such as a bunch of grapes, toast, or a bagel or another healthy performance to help and athlete to preform!
- Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! Drink water 2-3 hours before your sport, during breaks, and especially afterwards to keep your body energized and healthy without feeling weak!
