Stories of Service: My City Encouragement Cards

Last weekend thousands of youth from many churches in Northern California attended the My City youth conference at Capital Christian Center, an event designed to unite pastors and inspire students to impact their circles of influence for God. Serve Sacramento set up a table during the conference and asked local youth to write encouragement cards to inmates who are at Folsom Prison. The cards were delivered during a worship service at Folsom Prison on Sunday evening. Prisoners were visibly moved as some of the cards were read out loud. They applauded the efforts of the youth and were able to receive a note of encouragement to read during challenging times.

A huge THANK YOU to every young person who took time to write a note! Your act of love made a big difference in the lives of people who often feel forgotten.

If you are interested in writing a letter to an inmate at Folsom Prison, you can address the card to our offices at 2830 G Street Sacramento CA 95816 and we will hand deliver it during a future visit to the prison.

Upcoming Service Event: Serve Every School

Serve Every School is a region wide youth initiative giving opportunity for students to engage their schools in a positive and practical way by simple acts of service. Groups of students will work with a campus champion to discover and meet a practical service need at their school with the guidance of school administration. Service projects will happen on many high school campuses and select middle school and college campuses in a 48 hour period on April 21st-22nd 2015.

We are still looking for youth pastors and leaders who are willing to champion a local school in their area. This is a great opportunity for churches and youth pastors to get their students involved with impacting the school they attend in a positive way!
