The Southeast Region

Have you ever been to the Southeast region? This region is very fascinating.


Have you ever been to some of these states? There are 12 states in the Southeast region. The states are Kentucky, Tennesse, Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia, Louisiana, and Arkansas.


The landforms are beautiful. Some of the landforms are, Mammoth Cave, Everglades, Great Smoky Mountains, Mississippi River Delta, and the Appalachian Mountains. Also, the land in Louisiana is swampier than other states.

Major Bodies Of Water

In the night time, some of the bodies of water are very still. Some of them are the, Mississippi River, Gulf of Mexico, Atlantic Ocean, Chesapeake Bay, and Lake Okeechobee.


The climate in the Southeast region is very sunny in the summer. Sometimes it can be stormy though.

Natural Resources

The natural resources are mostly delicious food. The natural resources in the Southeast region are tomatoes, oranges, rice, sugarcane, grapefruit, tobacco, peanuts, coal, peaches, and cotton. These are the natural resources in the Southeast Region.


There is not a lot of different languages spoken but, mostly Spanish and English. In this region the people who grew up here probably have a Southern accent.


Some of the cities in this region are, Miami, Tampa, Jacksonville, Mobile, New Orleans, Montgomery, Atlanta, Jackson, Little Rock, Knoxville, and Charlotte. These are some of the cities in the Southeast region.

  • Did you know the largest underground cave in the world is in Kentucky. It is 300 miles long (The Mammoth-Flint Cave system).
  • Also, did you know Juliette Gordon Low founded the Girl Scouts in Savannah, Georgia in 1912.
  • Root Beer was invented in Biloxi, MS in 1898.
