Dance Club: This club is open to students in Grades 7-12 who have a love for dance. This club will begin after the fall sport season.
Debate Team: This club is open to students in Grades 9-12 - as part of the Southeastern MA Debate League students learn how to research, prepare and debate on one topic for the year. Five meets are held in which they debate students from surrounding area schools. Speaking, rhetorical and research skills are gained.
Drama Club: This club is open to students in Grades 7-12 who are interested in performance and technical theater arts. Meetings are held after school and will be announced on the morning announcements and our Google classroom. The focus of this club is to gain confidence on and off stage, to showcase skills in a live theater performance, and have fun getting to know other dynamic students. The first meeting will be announced soon!
Diversity Club (a.k.a Action Club) is open to all students in Grades 7 - 12. The club is designed to welcome and celebrate all people from all walks of life in a positive and self-affirming environment that builds confidence, acceptance and inclusion. We strive for open communication within the club and to all others outside the club through reach-out activities that will bring to light the celebrated differences within our community and culture.
Drum Circle is a fun activity for any student to participate in during power block on most Fridays. We meet in the Music room where students can express their creativity through the group dynamic (no prior percussion experience necessary).
Environmental Club: This club is open to students in Grades 7-12. The goals are to promote awareness of important local and global environmental issues, to learn more of these issues ourselves, and to provide helpful, concrete environmental services to our school. We often make informative videos for the morning announcements, create posters, and sometimes go outside for school cleanup, or just to enjoy nature! Projects are often done independently, so the club does not meet every week. More information will be available at our first meeting in the coming weeks.
Global Citizens Club: This club is open to students in Grades 9-12 who are interested in learning about other countries and cultures. Students are encouraged to share any experiences they have of other cultures or trips. This club also typically has a school wide service aspect. In the past years we have raised money for Ukraine and collected school supplies for Caritas Smiles, a non profit that gives back and supports many communities in the Caribbean. Freshman and sophomore students may also choose to participate in the Honors Program which lasts through the end of their senior year.
Leo's Club: This club is open to students in Grades 7-12. The Leo's Club motto nicely sums up its mission: "Leadership, Experience, Opportunity.” LEADERSHIP: Members gain skills as project organizers and peer motivators. EXPERIENCE: They discover how teamwork and cooperation can better their community and the world. OPPORTUNITY: Leos provide others with opportunities through community service . If you’re looking to make this world a better place, then Leo's Club is the club to join. Our first organizational meeting will be announced next week.
High School Math Club: This club is open to students in Grades 9-12 will start up in early-October and meets regularly after school on Thursdays from 2:10 - 2:45. The club offers students a chance to solve problems in the subject areas of Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Trigonometry/Statistics. The club also spends time exploring specific high school mathematics topics in more detail.
Middle School Math Club: This club is open to students in Grades 7 & 8 meets every other Wednesday until 3pm. We work with the company Sigma which sends us contests that help students build their critical thinking skills and apply content to real-life scenarios. Any parent or student in search of more information should reach out to Ms. Romano (GRomano@wbridgewater.com) with any questions. She will be going around to the 7th school power blocks next week to talk about upcoming meetings.
Minecraft and Video Game Club: This club is open to students in Grades 7-12 and focuses on game based learning through playing Minecraft and other school appropriate video games. Students work together in a collaborative environment to problem solve, build 3 dimensional interactive worlds and be introduced to computer programming. Last year students organized and hosted a Super Mario Smash Brothers tournament in the spring. Many students also learned how to play Magic the Gathering which is a trading card game similar to Pokemon. The club meets after school on Thursday afternoons from 2:05-3:30 pm in the computer lab.
Model United Nations Club: This club is open to students in Grades 8-12who are interested in global issues, and in teaming up to resolve common problems. Students will be learning communication skills, the committee process, and about making compromises. Students will gain insights into other perspectives adding to their knowledge. Travel Abroad Opportunity
How would you like to head directly from final exams to Logan Airport where you’ll embark on an epic field trip to an exotic island adventure in Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands? This field trip isn’t just a normal vacation -- It’s boat rides on crystal clear waters, sunsets over the Pacific Ocean and snorkeling with giant tortoises. It’s a chance to learn about unique ecosystems, biodiversity, conservation efforts and more. Concepts we learn in biology and environmental science classes will come to life.

Setting Your Student Up for Success
Transitions back to school are an adjustment for everyone, but co-creating structure and routine with your child can be one of the best ways to support their academic and emotional well-being. Here are some suggestions to think about and find what works best for your family. Remember, consistency is key and sometimes it is a process of trial and error. Establish Consistent Sleep Patterns: Start adjusting bedtimes and wake-up times a week or two before school starts to ensure they get enough sleep Make the Morning Easier: The night before, pick out clothes for the next day, decide on breakfast for the morning, and have backpacks and Chromebook packed by the door Organize a Designated Study Space: Set up a time for homework and a quiet, well-lit study area with minimal distractions- this may not be the bedroom Incorporate Physical Activity: Schedule regular breaks for physical activity or play to help them stay active (i.e. walking the dog) Limit Screen Time: Define screen time limits for recreational use and what time they shut off before bed Encourage Organization: Teach them to use planners or digital tools to keep track of assignments, projects, and extracurricular activities Prioritize Relaxation: Include relaxation techniques like deep breathing or reading before bedtime to help them unwind

A Message from Ann Marie Grinder, Food Service Director
It’s exciting to announce that Massachusetts is one of 8 States that has made Universal school meals permanent! All students eat free for both breakfast (snack) and lunch every school day, saving families money and time. Please check out the WB’s Food Services Home Page for more information and to view menus.
We are excited to partner with local farms to provide students with fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables and we are working on developing new menu items for this year as well as starting a school garden. Before opening day, the district’s nutrition staff participated in an Asian Fusion cooking class. Stay tuned!
Adding funds to a student's lunch account. While (1) breakfast and (1) lunch per day continue to be offered at no cost, extra meals and a la carte items such as bottled water, freshly baked cookies, ice cream and milk for students that bring lunch from home are offered for sale in the cafeteria. Students must have money on their lunch account to purchase any extra items. Cash and checks are accepted and electronic payments can be made through MySchoolBucks. You will need your child's 10-digit SASID# to register for a MySchoolBucks account.

Update from Nurse Diedrichsen
At the beginning of each year all of our WB nurses are working diligently to update health information. Please ensure that you provide all necessary documentation, forms and/or medication promptly so that your student is appropriately cared for!
Just a reminder that updated physicals/immunizations are required for students entering grades 7 and 10 as well as all athletes and students new to West Bridgewater Middle Senior High School.
You may find the ANNUAL HEALTH UPDATE form on the health services website (https://www.wbridgewaterschools.org/page/health-services) to provide the most current information about your student and to consent to the administration of standing orders (Tylenol, ibuprofen, tums, Benadryl) during the school day.
