P.T.O. Rada Fundraiser
Playground equipment is expensive! We are seeking your help in fundraising for this cause. Remember, we never want a child going door-to-door on his/her own. Detailed information about Rada Cutlery is in the Friday folder, or you may click here to order online and have your items shipped directly to you (them). Thank you for helping our students obtain new and exciting pieces of equipment for their outside play.
Yearbook Orders
Once again, we are putting together picture memories for your child. Students of L.E.S. can order a yearbook by clicking here, or by filling out the enclosed order form and envelope. These orders are due on February 15th.
Study Trip to UCPL
Students had a blast sharing their Iditarod expertise with the home schooled students and their parents at the Union County Public Library. It was an amazing day of teaching and learning, and I am grateful that you allowed your child to make the chilly trek there. I'll be entirely honest with you: It wasn't fully clear to me just how much these students know about the Iditarod until they were teaching others.
Call your child over to the computer screen and allow him/her to show his/her stuff. The photos below may seem very, very random, but they all have significance toward the state of Alaska and/or to the race. I've purposely not put comments or captions with the pictures. That's your child's job. Sit back as (s)he shares both important and minuscule facts .
January S.T.E.M. Day
This morning was yet another exciting day of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. Once again, we gathered with the other second grade classes and had students rotate through S.T.E.M. stations. Ask your child how PVC pipe and metallic Christmas tree icicles can make floating orbs. As always, this was a fun, fun day! I hope you'll ask your child to tell about his or her favorite activity.
Study Trip to Civic Theater
Remember, we are going on another study trip on Friday, February 8. This will not cost our families money, but we do need your written permission. Forms were sent in previous Friday folders. Please let me know if you need another form.
Next Week's Share Topic
Winter is “Snow” Much Fun! Create a snowy story. You may tell it, write about it in story form, use a puppet, etc. Just be creative!
