MARCH 2023 HIGHLIGHTS

LYCOCTC ROTARY STUDENT OF THE MONTH- ANDREW LOPEZ

The Lycoming Career and Technology Center is pleased to announce Andrew Lopez as Rotary/LycoCTC Student of the Month for March, 2023. Andrew, son of Cuauhtemoc and Erica Lopez of Montoursville, PA, has received this honor based upon his outstanding work ethic, attendance, behavior, community service, and the recommendation of his LycoCTC Computer Systems Technology instructor. A Montoursville High School senior, Andrew is in his second year as LycoCTC student in the Computer Systems Technology class. Andrew is characterized as being diligent in his classwork, possessing a positive attitude, and a pleasure to have in class by his teacher. Following graduation in June 2023, Andrew plans on attending the Pennsylvania College of Technology, with a major in Information Technology.

Computer Systems Technology

Students are installing upgraded CPU coolers with backplate mounts. The stock CPU coolers had plastic mounts and were far more prone to breaking.

Construction Technology

Students in construction have been working on building their model garage and electrical projects.

Criminal Justice

The students in Criminal justice have been praticing for their NOCTI performance test. In the picture a student is analyzing a crime scene.

Culinary Arts

The culinary students made a delicious meal for the Rotary club! Hosting meetings in the cafe gives the culinary students time to practice their skills they learn during class. They prep, cook, and serve the meal to the guest.

Early Childhood

The student teachers planned a lucky week for the children that attend the LycoTykes preschool! Their plans included planting four leaf clovers, learning how rainbows form, and they even created their own leprechaun traps. The preschoolers were unable to catch the leprechaun this year, but he left them a sweet treat behind.

Health Careers Level 1

Student in level 1 are learning to reposition patients in bed and assess for decubitus ulcers. They are also measuring and recording patient intake and output, repositioning and assisting patient to head of bed, and checking a patient's vital signs.

Health Careers Level 2/3

Level 2 students are currently working on getting certified in adult CPR and infant CPR. They are also learning how to administer oxygen.

Hunter's Heart and Hustle Foundation

Earlier this month, our students and staff wore jerseys to help support the Hunter's Heart and Hustle Foundation, in honor and memory of Hunter Reynolds.

LYCOCTC ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT

Courtney Oldweiler-East Lycoming 2017- Culinary Arts

Courtney Oldweiler is a 2017 graduate from Hughesville High School. She was in the LycoCTC Culinary Arts program. She attended Luzerne County Community College where she received her Associate Degree in Early Childhood. Courtney is currently working toward her Bachelors degree in Education at Lock Haven University. In 2018, Courtney started at LycoCTC as our Culinary Assistant.
