AK STAR Assessment
This week, Third, Fourth, and Fifth graders have the AK STAR Testing on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (fifth grade only).
During testing we ask that primary classrooms to limit their use of the internet Tuesday - Thursday. Please be quiet in the hallways during testing. Late arriving 3rd-5th grade students will take their tests in another room. As a school we need 95% of our students testing.
The AK STAR is a criterion-referenced test (MAP is norm-referenced). State educators created proficiency cut-offs during several days of meetings in Anchorage. The test uses the MAP assessment system which fluctuates the questions to best attain the student's score.
- We need nearly Perfect Attendance - for all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students during State Testing: April 18th-20th. Please plan accordingly.
- Intent to Return Forms - Please complete and return your Intent-to-Return forms by Friday, April 21st. We use these forms to create classrooms for next year.
- Kindergarten Round-Up - we need all Incoming Kindergarteners to register for school. Spread the word, Kindergarten Round-Up is the first week of May.
- May Canned Food Drive - our local letter carriers union will provide 'ice cream truck' ice cream for students who bring-in (2) items for the Food Bank during the May 'Canned Food Drive.'
