"For the Love of Learning!"
I Make a Difference
I would like to pass the “I Make a Difference” honor on to Brooke Martinette. What would we do without her? Brooke has infinite patience with students and staff and calmly solves our computer problems. Technology is not always my friend and she has helped me many times. She has a wealth of information and can answer most any question. Brooke collaborates with our teachers to make the best use of our resources and comes up with fun ways for our students to learn. They love the break out boxes! Her love of teaching shows when she is working with students in the classroom or in small groups. Brooke is helpful, kind and always ready to lend a hand. I am so happy Brooke is with us every day. Trantwood is a better place because of her. She definitely makes a difference! Sue Jerasa

2018-2019 ESSENTIAL SESSIONS-TRANSFORMING MATHEMATICS THROUGH COMPUTATIONAL FLUENCY
Computational fluency refers to having flexible, efficient and accurate methods for computing. Students exhibit computational fluency when they demonstrate strategic thinking and flexibility in the computational methods they choose, understand and can explain and produce accurate answers efficiently. Math specialists will receive license renewal points by monitoring progress for teachers within their respective buildings.
The essential PLP session will not have a make-up date because it will be a course in Schoology where teachers will be responsible for submitting all necessary coursework in order to receive license renewal points. The final submission date is April 5, 2019.
Questions may be directed to Johanna Ortiz, elementary mathematics coordinator, in the Department of Teaching and Learning, by phone at 263-1465 or email at johanna.ortiz@vbschools.com. Thank you
