Huskies Prepare to Return

Resources for Back to School 2020-2021

September 8, 2020

Dear Parents,

Welcome Back!!

We are excited to work with your children - both face to face and virtually!

Our staff is striving to make the most of a difficult situation. They are preparing face to face and virtual lessons, engaging learning activities, and a safe environment.

Your child's safety is of utmost importance to us! We have established routines and procedures following all guidelines in order to maintain safety during this pandemic.

We will be providing masks and a breakaway lanyard to keep masks separated. Students are expected to wear a mask when they are in large groups or in the hallway. If they remain a distance of 6' in the classroom, they make remove their masks.

Please expect to receive a newsletter weekly with updates and information about Hodgesville Elementary School. It will also be available on Facebook and on our website -

At any time you have questions, please contact Mrs. Phillips or your child's teacher. We are here to help during this unprecedented time.

Water Bottles

Each student will need to bring a water bottle to school daily. Upshur County has provided every student with a water bottle, which they will receive on the 1st day of school.

Students are expected to bring their water bottle home daily to be cleaned and sanitized.

The water bottles may be brought to school empty or filled. If they are brought filled, please do not carry them in the bag with the iPad. If they are brought empty, we have a filling station.

Water fountains will be turned off to maintain safety of our students.

Each student will receive a paw print cinch sack to carry to and from school. This will be used to carry the iPad and charging cords back and forth. Nothing else should be brought to school, unless it is a cold lunch.

We are asking for no backpacks because students will not be going to their lockers until later in the morning and they will need to carry this bag with them to breakfast.

Our Family Handbook is available on our website at or at the link below.

A copy has also been emailed to all families who have an email address on file.

2020 - 2021 Permissions

If you have not already completed these, please scan both QR codes and complete the permissions.

One is to give us permission for your child to be photographed, use our library (when it opens), etc.

The 2nd permission is an agreement for your child to receive an iPad. Without this form completed, your child cannot receive their iPad.
