June CAPP Newsletter
Aloha CAPP Friends!
In the 3-D Dance Creative Arts Preschool Program our mission is to partner with parents to grow great kids! We want every family to feel seen and known, and every child to feel cared for consistently. We believe in the power of FREE PLAY and FUN! Children thrive in environments where play is supported and encouraged and studies show that free play is where children build foundational life skills in order to be successful for years to come.
We also believe that the arts are a natural and fundamental way of learning about the world around us. Learning through the arts teaches children self regulation, healthy self expression, and young minds develop "out of the box" thinking that will benefit them in the future. Children use and strengthen all of their 7 of the senses when learning through the arts - YES SEVEN! Sight, smell, taste, hearing, touch, vestibular and proprioception. You can read more HERE.
Here's on overview of our learning targets for June:
Music- I can find a steady beat.
Visual Arts- I can share information about and paint in the style of Jackson Pollock.
Language Arts- I can show the cover of a book. I can visually recognize my name.
Math- I can sort objects by their attributes (shape, size, color, etc.)
We present our learning targets as "I statements" so that the students internalize concepts, share in the ownership of their learning, and develop a positive inner monologue.
