Lanoka Harbor School Newsletter
March 2023
Dear Lanoka Families,
We would like to start by congratulating Mrs. Meyler on being selected as the Lanoka Harbor School Teacher of the Year! This is an honor that is well deserved, and knowing the quality of the teachers in this building, is a well-earned recognition too. As she brings a high level of instruction to the children in her classroom, Mrs. Meyler also brightens the building with her caring demeanor, positive personality, and warm smile. Being a Lacey alumnus, Mrs. Meyler has a keen knowledge of the community, and our students benefit from her deep level of commitment and support for our school district. Congratulations again Mrs. Meyler!
We are in that long stretch of the year we call March. This is the time of year when parents, students, and teachers dig deep to persevere through the end of the winter. As spring arrives, we feel refreshed and aware that our time is beginning to run short. Luckily, we have many fun and exciting activities planned as we head into the final trimester to close out the school year. As this year signaled a return to the traditional school setting and norms, we could not be more proud of the manner in which our students transitioned back into school, the support that our PTO continues to provide, and the effort that our incredible staff brings into the building consistently. We sincerely feel blessed to be part of such a school. Thank you to all that make Lanoka Harbor School what it is.
Together we are better, and the Power is Always in The PRIDE!
Sincerely,
Jeffrey Brewer, Principal
Theresa Kilmurray, Supervisor
KIDS HEART CHALLENGE UPDATE
Kids Heart Challenge with the American Heart Association
Donations Due: ASAP
Calling all HEART HEROES!
In February, Lanoka Harbor School was thrilled to support the American Heart Association by teaching our students and families how to take care of their hearts through the Kids Heart Challenge program. Students were asked to spread awareness and help raise money to fight heart disease and stroke.
Over the past few weeks, students had fun learning about their heart with the Heart Heroes while raising money to help fund lifesaving research. With one more week to go, our school has done an amazing job! We have raised $19,502.00 in donations, and 257 students registered! Thank you to all that have contributed, we look forward to sharing with you our school totals next month. We are always amazed by the generosity of our Lanoka Harbor School family!
MUSIC IN OUR SCHOOLS
To help Lanoka Harbor School celebrate music in our schools month, Mrs. Ferruzza will be choosing two students from her music classes each day to be The Music Students of the Day. These students will be chosen based on their hard work and good behavior in the area of music. In addition, one recorder student of the day will be chosen daily and one band student will be chosen each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday by Mrs. Meelheim. At the end of the week, two classes will be chosen as Music Classes of the Week.
All students are reminded to do their best in music class and practice their recorder/band instrument! HAPPY MUSIC MONTH!
ART IN OUR SCHOOLS
March is Youth Art Month, and the Ocean County
Library is holding a student art show to celebrate!
Artwork created by Lacey Township School students
will be on display at the Lacey branch beginning
March 14th and will remain on display for the
