What causes Shingles

Shingles is caused by the varicella-zoster virus. The virus causes chickenpox's too. It's in our nervous system and 1 in 3 people get shingles.

What happens to the body because of the disease?

If you have ever had the chickenpox's the virus is still inside our body. Around our nervous system the virus stays. Later on when your older around 50 years old you could get sick and it could be the start of shingles. The body reacts to it and you would start off with a rash and then it becomes itchy. Then it starts to become a blister and oozes and crust over and you would have shingles and they hurt really bad.
